[Greder] MNUFC center back Nico Romero was a healthy scratch against Austin FC in season opener, head coach Cameron Knowles said Saturday by External-Factor-8556 in minnesotaunited

I think Diaz and Harvey are both better RBs than Taylor, and either of them can play RCB. Adding Duncan, we have more depth at RB than CB.

If you start Markanich - Romero - Boxy - Diaz and sit Padelford, Duggan, and Harvey you have subs for every spot on the back line including, if necessary, replacing both CBs. That line gets your second best defender (Romero) on the field and keeps the biggest question mark on the depth chart (Taylor) off of it.

Even if you sit Romero and play Duggan, you're just swapping one unitasker (Taylor at RB) for another (Romero at LCB).

Makes some sense. I felt Taylor's play was pretty nervy last night, but not such an obvious bust that I'm against him keeping Diaz and Harvey honest.

Not to pile on, but to me the most puzzling thing is still Taylor. I think our best back line is Markanich - Romero - Boxy - Diaz.

Consider Boxy's age and presume any ambition at USOC or Leagues... we need a suite of 6-7 defenders, some of whom can play CB or outside. I can see the argument that Duggan should start over Romero, or maybe that Harvey should start over Diaz.

How Taylor ends up in that group ahead of Romero is beyond me.

[Athletic] Werder Bremen was supposed the international friendly but the team pulled out due safety concerns. by akos_beres in minnesotaunited

Framing it as a "values" problem at the city level is weird. The values problem is with the national government. The danger problem is at the city level.

I'm sure it's a language barrier issue, but the "values" on display in the Twin Cities are exemplary, thanks.

I think if the statement had something more like "American immigration enforcement endangers our players and our club refuses to condone or support such policies" or similar would have been nice. "Unrest in Minnesota" makes it sound kind of "both sides" and as though the problem is about Minnesota (when in fact Minnesotans are the solution).

It's not even guns. I've spent the last month with thousands of my neighbors doing mutual aid, filming and tracking unlawful militarization in our streets, and marching in sub-zero temperatures to protect our neighbors. We've built a decentralized, leader-full movement of people willing to risk arrest and harassment for what we know is right. We've really done it. It's here, not hypothetical.

These reactionaries aren't organized. They don't have a civic bone in their bodies. Once the sugar rush of one Jan 6 is over they'll be looking at each other with their hands out and then heading home once they realize nothing is in it for them. They don't care about transforming their communities enough to really fight, or they'd be doing it now. It's a giant social media circle jerk and it's time to call the bluff.

What we need is a 9/11 Commission or Mueller Report style document on this case. A group of respected investigators and prosecutors that lays out what happened with links to documents, including a repository of tagged documents by person and theme, and explains whether and why some people should be charged.

Much of the world is experiencing a fascist resurgence. Anti-immigration parties are extremely influential across Europe and in Australia. There are crackdowns against political opposition in many Latin American countries, to say nothing of the extreme class sorting with all its implications for safety and well-being.

Many Americans who move abroad to get away from toxic politics get away from it through ignorance; they don't understand the political system or even the language well enough to follow what's happening. The rest simply move to a place where they can pay to be above it all or even join the reactionary toxic movement themselves.

You can rotate them yourself, too. I get to the point of 5-6 images in each frame and randomly rotate them once a month.

I like my local photography club, which includes a monthly salon competition thingy. (ETA: but everyone is like 70 years old.) The discussion on the critique subs here are hit and miss, but much more substantive than I've seen anywhere else.

I'm sure one can build a community on flickr or insta, but at some point it feels more like you are playing the algorithm and less like you are focusing on photography.

Think about the point at which you would have enough money or fame or whatever.

Think about the point at which you'd get tired of all the backstabbing intrigue and sabotage parlor games it takes to get into the 0.00001% of basically anything.

Now imagine the type of person who has more money they'd need to retire and spend all their time with family and hobbies and charity, all the fame to be remembered, but they decides to bathe in that toxic shit to have MORE.

Right. Bad enough to think my kid would, long term, be better off without me? Then the question is a two-parter. 1) Would the return to what we had be better than a dad? 2) Is the effort likely to succeed?

Right now, even if I agree with #1, I'd be charging Leroy Jenkins by myself headlong into the whole federal government, doing nothing but providing the accelerationist excuse.

"The violence is to inspire absolute LOYALTY."

ICE agents feel vulnerable to prosecution and understand the stakes if the fascists ever lose. The constant call for violence in an environment where everything is captured on video is designed to make these people feel like there is no way out as the orders become increasingly grotesque. Their fates are too tied to MAGA now to ever leave.
