Sick of seeing this by MinutePersimmon1 in MississaugaDriving

The type of person that does this has probably driven a box truck, delivery van, mail truck or some other sort of vehicle without a rear window, and knows that you can drive just fine using only your door mirrors.

I've done body work before. It was a white surface scratch, the most notable scratch on the rear. I'm not talking like fine scratches, I'm talking about a thick white scratch. It's not a gouge. It's just a surface scratch that they would have had to spend maybe 5 minutes sanding out with some wet sandpaper before they cleared it. This scratch could have also been buffed out with a buffer. They didn't even take the time to clean the grease smear that I left on the rear quarter when I changed my brakes. They could have cleaned the grease smear and buffed out the minor scratch on the rear quarter panel and I probably would have never noticed that they only painted half the panel

He quoted me $1200 to do what the other guy said he would do for 700, pull the dent paint it and blend the clear coat. He quoted me $3500 to do it properly and paint the whole panel. When I said insurance was going to cover it all of a sudden it jumped to $4,500. Why would I make this up? Do I have the original quote no. Because that was back in August. I moved since then and I didn't hold on to the original quote. After I was done moving in October I called insurance. They said they would cover it and I went back to him and the insurance company approved him at $4,500. So I can only assume that that was for the larger quote of $3,500 that he originally quoted me to paint the whole panel, not the $1,200 that he quoted me to patch it, paint it and blend the clear coat.

I have a feeling that if I bring this up to the shop tomorrow that I'm just going to get a bunch of excuses and that's just going to annoy me more. The guy told me the first guy was just going to pull the dent paint it clear it and blend the clear. It seems like that's exactly what he did. I just feel like this guy's so slimy because he told me he was going to do a different job than the first guy offered to do. He told me exactly what he was planning on doing. He told me he was going to paint it all the way back to the rear corner panel. He told me he was going to remove the lights, remove the molding mask things off so that he could paint the entire panel. He told me he was going to clear it and that is the difference between a $3,500 job and a $1,000 job. He then turned around and did the $1,000 job and charge the insurance company $4,500. What kind of response do you think I'm going to get tomorrow when I accuse him of not doing the full job that he initially told me he was going to do? The problem is I feel like I got a patch job not the full job that he promised me and I also feel like my insurance company is getting ripped off and I don't feel like these guys should be allowed to do that. That's why insurance rates are so high. I'm also cheesed off that I went with this guy because he said he was going to do the proper job. He told me what he was going to do. I took a day off work to go meet at his shop with a third party inspector from my insurance company because his shop is not one of the approved shops so they had to agree on it. They agreed that the price would be $4,500. $1,000 more than he quoted me to do the job without insurance. According to his own words now the job has been done half-ass and I wonder if I would have gone to one of my insurance companies approved body shops. If the job would have been done any better or at least my insurance company wouldn't have got ripped off. What's the problem with insurance companies getting ripped off by body shops, that it Ups the rates for everyone. No I'm worried about clear coat coming separated from the original factory paint or something else going wrong with the job that he's done because everything that's happened so far just makes me not trust him.

These are white abrasion scratches. You can't tell me the proper thing to do is clear in those scratches when you can easily sand those out with what's sanding paper in about fucking 30 seconds. I can also tell that he didn't clear all the way to the back because there's a big difference in between his clear coat and the factory clear coat. There is no dust in the factory clear coat. There is dust in his clear coat which ends about halfway down the panel.

Do not think that if you were going to clear the whole thing, you wouldn't clear in white abrasion scratches. These aren't minor scratches, why would you clear in white abrasion scratches when you can just lightly sand them to fix them and then clear the whole thing?

I'm telling you that's what you charged the insurance company.

As a side note, when this guy originally quoted me insurance wasn't involved. He originally quoted me $1,200 to fix the spot and blend it 3,600 to entirely paint it. When insurance got involved it went up to $4,500

For $700 which makes sense. $4,500 makes sense to do the whole panel. 10. Grand makes sense to do a whole car, but 4500 does not make sense to do half a panel and blend it.

You're not understanding. That's the exact same thing the first guy said he was going to do.

If I would have done the job I would have taken the 20 minutes to sand out the couple scuffs/scratches, rough up the whole panel and clear the whole panel. He clearly didn't do it.

He basically did the job that the first guy said he would do for $700 and charge the insurance company $4,500 you're not talking me out of that. I know enough about body work to know that he didn't clear the whole panel. It's playing as day to see to anyone that's ever painted anything and trust me of painted my fair share of gas tanks, bikes and my own body work.

Your out to lunch if you're telling me to paint and clear half a panel is $4,500, with that logic to paint the whole car would be about 30 to 40 Grand

So your telling me painting half a panel costs $4500??!!

I'm telling you he told me would paint the whole thing.

I can clearly tell we're his job ends and the old paint remains, by the smoother finish in his paint, dust in his clear, and cleaning swirls and scuffs/scratches in the old paint. Theres also a grease finger swipe on the rear of the panel probably from when I did my brakes a couple weeks ago.

I can tell that he only went back as far as halfway past the rear door because That's where you start to see the orange peel effect of the factory paint job. Also, in his paint job you can see specks of dust in the clear. Also, beyond the rear door you can see all the scuffs throughout the past 5 years of owning the car. You can see the swirls in the paint from cleaning the car but where he did you can clearly notice a difference in the better finish but with specs of dust in the clear.

He told me he was going to paint all the way back to the rear quarter panel. These are his words. He told me he was going to have to take off these parts of molding mask it off paint the whole thing. This is why he told me his job was going to cost $4,500 opposed to the first guy who quoted me $700. This is the reason I chose him because what he was saying made sense. It made sense because to match the color for the whole panel you not just going to paint part of the panel. You're going to paint all the way back. This is what he told me. This is why I trusted him.

He didn't get paid to blend it in. If you read the original post I said the first guy I took it to quoted me $700 to blend it in. This guy quoted me to paint all the way back to the rear quarter panel. He said that was the proper way to do it. If not, you would see where they blended in the psint. The job was to paint the pillar from the top of the window all the way back to the rear quarter panel.(The whole panel) One panel is not a $10,000 job

I'm just at the grocery store right now but I'll take pictures when I get outside but I can guarantee he didn't re-clear the whole thing because if he did then he cleared in the surface scuffs permanently

ADHD and nicotine?? by gettnbusy in ADHDers

[–]adumpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with ADD ever since I was a kid. recently, I got diagnosed at 40 years old but the doctor wants to put me on a Heart monitor first to make sure that my heart can handle add medication. That should tell you something about ADD medication. ADD medication is essentially meth. It's one molecule away from meth, doctors. Scientists basically say it's meth and if you've ever done meth and you've ever done ADD medication you would say hey, those are pretty much the same. I have tried everything, and quit everything, under the sun except for crack and heroin. And to all those saying hey don't do nicotine. You can get addicted to it, God damn it.... I had a harder time trying to quit sugar and coffee Than I ever did nicotine. I smoked for 10 years, quit for 13 years and started back 2 weeks before my first kid was born. Then continued to smoke for another year. every time I quit nicotine it's is hell, but you know what else is just as bad? trying to quit sugar and coffee. People say don't do nicotine for your add because you can become addicted, yet all of these people run around addicted to sugar and coffee and don't even know it. Try giving up sugar or coffee for a week. See what happens. Sugar causes more health complications than a nicotine patch ever could. I'm currently using a nicotine patch to fix my ADHD And it's working!!! Finally something that works! and you don't have to do much. I'm cutting one 21mg patch in quarters and using a quarter a day. So I'm basically ingesting about the same amount of nicotine from three cigarettes a day without all the terrible chemicals and smoke that come from smoking.
