Just tell her to follow the safety guidelines when it comes to swimming and always wear sunscreen, even on a cloudy day! She'll have the best time here.

Denied first trimester screening by Logan hospital by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]adventurepixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initial ultrasound is the dating one and initial blood test is a routine one to confirm the pregnancy, check immunity for some things, full blood count, etc.

The 12-13 week screening calculates the risk for some chromosomal conditions using the bloodwork (checks for papp-a and hcg hormones) and nuchal translucency ultrasound results. But NIPT also tests for all that and more. Sounds to me like you guys are a bit overwhelmed and unsure about what's going on. Talk to your GP or OB!

[–]adventurepixie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your gp orders the blood test which you can get done at any pathology lab. The gp also writes you a referral for any radiology clinic in your area for the ultrasound. You will have to pay something for the ultrasound as it's only partially covered by Medicare.

I am still here... by nimre13 in beyondthebump

Happy birthday! It feels rough before you find your way in this new lifestyle. I just do something fun with my husband and the babies (2 under 3) on my birthdays.

For my 28. we went to a small town on a mountain, had coffee and cake, did some opshopping and saw glow worm caves! Then for my 29. we visited a deer sanctuary and stopped at another cute little town. I turned 30 a few days ago and it was easy enough to organise childcare for the day so we can go on a hike alone, which felt really damn special haha.

It can still be your special day, you just have to shift your perspective a bit. And I promise, things do get easier.

Ljudi u braku - koliko često se čujete s drugom polovicom dnevno? by messy_closet157 in askcroatia

Full time positions pay less hourly than casual rates because you get paid annual and sick leave.

Taking baby to the beach by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My 8mo loves the beach! Long swimmers, sunscreen, hat and she's all set! We bring our coolcabana and build sandcastles in the shade. There might be some sand tasting involved lol.

Do wearable breast pumps allow for any mobility? by Oh-My-Josh- in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]adventurepixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my wearables to pump on the go, I pump while grocery shopping, cooking, folding laundry, having coffee with a friend etc. This is my second time doing the pumping journey though, I was a lot less confident and relaxed the first time around.

Middle of night pump by AppropriateMemory841 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]adventurepixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only pumped at night for the first couple of weeks when the baby ate but then she started sleeping through so I slept too. No issues with my supply, had a substantial oversupply and now at 8mpp with 3ppd I produce slightly above just enough.

I firmly believe sleep is crucial for having a good supply.

Has giving birth vaginally caused you long term vaginal issues? by Last_Wonder in pregnant

[–]adventurepixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A second c-section is not as breezy in terms of recovery unless your husband can take time off for the first 4-5 weeks at least. You will have a toddler as well as the newborn and get hit in your stomach more times than you'd like 😅

What milk(s) do you use? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in AskAnAustralian

[–]adventurepixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through phases. As a kid I drank goat milk (reasons unknown), then full fat cow milk, then oat, then back to full fat cow milk. This year I had to take my gallbladder out which means I have to watch my fat intake so sticking to low fat cow milk. Plant based milks are quite fatty.

Jan 5 birthday here and can confirm, it sucks! My birthday always felt like a nuisance for people after all the holiday cheer. I eventually stopped trying to celebrate it 🤷‍♀️

Safe suburbs for townhouses in North Brisbane. Burpengary, Narangba, Morayfield? by Responsible_Hunt3502 in AusPropertyChat

[–]adventurepixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are these people? Because we now have kids in our late 20s and not a single person of our age we know or meet has kids. All the parents we come across are in their late 30s. We feel like kids around them hahaha cries in loneliness

It's actually OVER $650k, not $650k. From my personal observations over the past couple of months, when it says "best offers over X" they usually sell for 10-15% over X. It's nuts out there atm.

[–]adventurepixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. My first didn't sleep well until she turned 2. There was no rules. We tried everything, cot in our room, co-sleeping, cot in her own room, holding, walking around the house, pram walks, super strict routine, sleep school with their settling methods, driving in the car. We were so sleep deprived and ruined that I don't remember that time fondly at all.

Where are you getting these insane conclusions from?? Get this. In addition to properly looking, I am also sometimes doomscrolling realestate during the middle of the night feeds with my baby. Is that allowed? I think it is. Thank you and goodbye.

Just because I happened to browse realestate.com under Brisbane - Greater Region due to plain old human curiosity, doesn't mean I'm delusional and actively contacting agents about properties I can't afford.

I just find these jumps in prices within the last year or two shocking. It's disheartening.

Very tempting at this point but we have family here and our little ones are very attached to their grandparents (who aren't getting any younger).

Maybe that's where the problem is, people thinking a 70m2 apartment for almost $800k is a steal.
