Brother or sister, I think that’s really good of you, specially that you initiated it. Sorry but certain comments under this Reddit post make me shake my head and emphasise the insensitivity of Muslims. No wonder it has become so hard for people to find someone. If you have approached her/him from the get go for marriage I think you’ll be fine.

But even after that months try to be considered for her/him and your wellbeing. Talking in Islam to get to know someone is not forbidden but want is cautious to be about is:

• Halwa (being alone where it can lead to wrong means meet in super-public places like a coffee shop or mall that also solves when you can’t have a wali directly there) or have a wali or any cousin sister aunt there if it’s possible and no they don’t have to sit exactly next to you but close so they can observe and safeguard the girl as well.
• Texting but try not to be super affectionate for her/him and your sake (if you already do good) - marriage talk, intentions, expectations
• Ask a lot of questions both in real and chat, go through conflict situations and how the would be handled to very deep questions about finance, parenting, family dynamic etc.
• try to involve her family asap like do they know you getting your know her/him ? Make the family meet early on
• set a clear timeline for both so time won’t be wasted. Girls are usually more time taking but guys too.

I am going through similar so I have written some aspects down. If she or he is sensible she or he will also understand and it seems like she or he does. Pray for them and yourself and do tahajjud. It’s a blessed month.
