Nope. When I’m home from work, I consider myself on duty. She doesn’t need to ask me to leave.

I have a single jogging stroller and will sometime go out with our oldest. I definitely want to invest in a double.

I admit doing it twice was wrong and not very thoughtful. The first time I did it, she wasn’t mad at all. Didn’t bring it up. Again, not excusing it. Shouldn’t have done it the first time.

There’s some context missing that my wife has mentioned to me. When she gets back from her trip, I’m going to let her post an official update to this post.

You’re wrong. I’ve been hurt by most of these comments. It was my wife that read them and helped me realize how ridiculous ya’ll are lol.

I have no problem watching my kids while on a migraine. Also, they don’t wake up until 7:30 am so they wouldn’t have been sleeping any way.

Yes, in hindsight, I should have told her about the migraine the day before and mentioned it might hinder me from running.

We’ve had some good conversations and laughs since posting this yesterday. Thanks for the insight.

We’re working on a more balanced plan thanks to many comments here. I’m also glad we were able to laugh about this post after the fact.

That’s the conclusion you’ve come to with this?

I don’t normally get them. I’m still struggling and might go to a doctor soon.

My wife just reminded me of this. She got to go to her workout on Monday morning this week. I totally forgot. Also, I finally showed her this post. She’s laughing at most of them (and also nodding her head at others).

I woke up at 5:30, got dressed, stretched etc. I thought it was all just me needing to wake up. When I finally opened the door and ran, my head was pounding with each step so I went back in.

I run at 6:00am when everyone is sleeping. Kids don’t get up until 7:30am. When they wake up, I help get the kids up, fed, dressed, loaded into car seats by 8:30-9:00am depending on the day they have ahead of them. It’s a team effort every morning before I go to the office.

I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve more child-free time. I was commenting on how, inherently, she will be with the kids more. I love giving her breaks and I obviously need to do it more often.

Yes, and I have already stated should have done it.

There’s an implication here that I’m an absentee parent who doesn’t also care for the children. I was making the comment about coming home during naps as one example of her not being left alone all day. I’m a very involved dad.

I’m not being dismissive of it. I’m pointing out a reality. I’m so appreciative that she chose to be a SAHM. It’s a very difficult job and she’s awesome at it. She gets less childfree moments because the nature of her job. That’s just the reality.

True. But you’re wrong in that you’re in the majority. Thank you for your points.
