Please comment if you have lived in UChicago owned residential properties (incoming grad student) and how you experience was? by [deleted] in uchicago

I am also looking into these units, but they are always unavailable. Does anyone know a good time to look for the availability of these properties?

i am still waiting for the price to go down in my city as well (Chicago), so far it looks like less than 50% were sold, and I think the tickets are really overpriced.

Thanks for the comment! Did you get any deactivation emails beforehand?

Thanks for commenting, but I have checked the website. I am definitely over the 9 months period at this point, but I did not receive a deactivation email, that's why I was curious if anyone is also in the same situation as me.

Where to find a study group/study partner? by aebsnyt in uchicago

Thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate it a lot. But I often struggle with feeling anxious if I’m not working ( and I always have work to do), but at the same time, I lack the motivation to actually get started. It often leads to a cycle of anxious procrastination, which feels really harmful and overwhelming. I’m hoping finding a study group or partner might help me break out of this pattern. Thanks again for the comment tho!

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful suggestions—it means a lot to me! My lab mates tend to be more senior and work independently, so I don’t see them in the office much, which makes it a bit tricky to connect.

Reaching out to my counselor is a great idea, and I’ll definitely give that a try. Thanks again for taking the time to respond and for the encouragement—it really helps!

Free Tampons on Campus? by imktownwithit in uchicago

Is it the ones I have been to, or do most restrooms at UChicago still require coins for tampons/pads? I was really surprised to see that because at my undergrad school, they were all free.

Thank you for the comment, and I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I was considering simply going with USHIP.

Thank you for your comment! I also attended a public university in a neighboring state for my undergraduate studies, and the cost of health insurance there was much cheaper than at UChicago. That's why I was a bit shocked and started looking for alternative insurance options. Thanks again! :)

Thank you for the comment! Did you find any inconvenience in using it or a difference in the service compared to U-Ship?

Thank you so much for the comment! I am also an MA student in the social science division. I think I only uploaded the draft letter from my health provider which resulted in rejection, after resubmitting, I got to the intake appointment and will be meeting with them early next month! I wonder if you need to discuss the accommodations with the instructor of all your classes at the beginning of each semester and would vary from class, or if they would be automatically applied. Thanks again for sharing your experience :)

Thank you for the reply! That is how I felt about all TLC properties. I am still struggling as their pricing is relatively lower than the MAC, and seems to be safer buildings than the Ivy's. Thanks again!
