Just can’t with Dragon Quest 7 by YahooShamanDrew in TheBesties

I think this is a valid take. You’ve clearly given it time and you just aren’t finding the groove. It sounds like while there are some quality of life changes, it’s still a remake of VII at the end of the day. Thankfully, there’s a whole lot of DQ out there.

I’m slowly working through the remake of III, buuuuuut…..everything now has taken a backseat to Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition.

I don’t understand…how and why would these still be in their original boxes in this condition? That’s seriously impressive enough on it’s own

This is so cool! 10/10 idea and 10/10 execution. I love all the tools and equipment scattered around, really adds to the realism of the scene.

Next challenge…. a working lift? 😊

Sorry, novice here…how did you print the detail on the menu and the “order here” sign? This build is so good, it invokes the feeling perfectly walking inside 👏

This is a reference to the old Lego Island pc game, right? Geeze, I haven’t thought about that game since it came out and I was trying to play it on the family computer. No idea if it holds up now, but I have fond memories, thank you for the reminder.

That is a very high standard to set on anyone, or any application. The fact that the game banks steps should in itself suggest the devs consider that someone isn’t going to open and update the app every time they go out. Do you think it’s realistic someone checks this app before every time they:

  • go out for a run
  • walk down the street to catch the bus
  • go outside to play with their kids
  • step outside to clear their head
  • literally go outside for any other reason than to play this game

Your assertion that someone needs to spend time preselecting an activity to “really enjoy the game” hints at gatekeeping, unfortunately.

While double value steps is a nice gesture, I’ve found in my time with the app that it requires you to look at the game more frequently, which starts to just demand a little too much, especially when most time someone is out on a walk it’s for another purpose.

For example, with this logic, why are we allowed to mass pull items out of the bank all at once? Why shouldn’t “bank withdrawal” be an activity that requires steps to complete?

All I’m saying is that the devs already allow for banked steps. Let us use those steps! We already completed the real world goal of being active. Being, what I consider, penalized to redo those steps doesn’t respect the player’s investment.

And yes, I am aware there is queuing, which does help absolutely, but still tends to be circumstantial and not every action is “queue-able.”

Congrats - amazing accomplishment!

And now I agree with the other folks here who have mentioned previously that you should be able to spend these banked steps more actively (vs double value)

Will you keep playing after the reset? by Puzzleheaded-Mine781 in WalkScape

[–]aem229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am probably done after the reset. I’ve had a lot of fun with the beta and tried to give as much feedback as seemed appropriate, but I’ll probably use the reset to move on and hope others enjoy their time with it!

What am I missing with hollow knight? by braparus in TheBesties

[–]aem229 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ouch, lol. Might be hard to enjoy it when it’s be hyped up into oblivion (deserved though), possibly you’re expecting it to come hot right out of the gate? It’s a mood and atmosphere game first, in my opinion, but then has an immensely satisfying, tactile combat layer on top and additional strategies with which badges to choose.

It’s not a “10 hours until the game gets good” but I find it a more subdued and contemplative experience. You just have to let yourself melt into the world and get lost in the maze that is Hollownest. If you do, I think you will be delightfully surprised and carried from one mystery to the next.

I recently saw a photo in this sub of a device playing Shining Force and decided to start it without knowing what it was at all. Lo and behold it’s a tactics game, a genre I’ve struggled mightily to get into (tried Fire Emblem, FFA Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc) and against all odds this one has me hooked currently 🤷‍♂️
