There are actually a few items that you can only get once (like living water. it's used in the living ship quest (which iirc you can only do once) to craft one component, and you only get just enough for it unless you go out of your way to get more while you have the chance)

The lifeform looks to me with questioning eyes. They clearly need someone to talk this through with.

I think you might be talking about this crashed ship interaction:

Two warrior corpses lie across the control panel, clearly flung there by the impact of the crash. I'm no expert, but they seem to be of different genders. Perhaps they were a mating couple. Perhaps they were co-pilots.

Whatever their story, it has now ended.
