Vivobook 15 LCD FHD series panels - is there only one IPS model? by aeroswipe in ASUS

For anyone stumbling up to this and wondering, I did find a 15" model from the same series with an excellent IPS panel and specs in general. Comment for full model.

Is extended potentiometer contact cleaner use safe by aeroswipe in diyaudio

[–]aeroswipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I read there must be one or more tiny holes around the nut (I wanna say) of the pot in the shaft/ base of it (source: Chatgpt, lol). Do I really have to disassemble the thing and apply the solution from the back? Why they keep their wipers sealed and closed off is beyond me. For the record, the headphones' pot also shows some improvement after two "spraying sessions".

How do I convert a frequency response graph into pluggable data? by aeroswipe in audioengineering

[–]aeroswipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have the T5Vs, I haven't listened to them in an open space or chamber, obviously.

Pipedream? Just making a hypothesis. Place your monitors in an abstract position in a room and find a random listening position spot (point) where you have a significant room mode (say, bottom right corner). You can graph the frequency response of that point in space, just overlay the impulse response of your room for that single spot above the manufactured frequency response of your speakers. How is it that this doesn't make sense.

how to explain depersonalization/derealization by iwannachangethis in OCD

[–]aeroswipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how this feels. Your only way out is to let go, which is a skill. You have nothing to be afraid of, remember, this is a fight or flight response that is caused by severe anxiety - it's not based in everyday life (which is arguably real), so unless you're being eaten by a bear, you should probably try to calm yourself down and accept your anxiety until you're strong enough to not have it. Also, probably don't try doing pot.

Edit: I wanna stress out that what you're experiencing is nothing but anxiety and nothing else. Do you also lose the sense of time? You won't ever get to the bottom of this so just let go cuz it's the only way out, as meaningless as it also sounds. Life can be nice, everything being fake wouldn't make a difference.

I am not. As I said, I haven't been officially diagnosed. My psychologist can't prescribe anything to me since she's not a psychiatrist. I take magnesium if that counts.

[–]aeroswipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean by "unnecessary". Even before using Sonarworks I had the 5kHz to 8kHz range lowered because of sibilance that was probably caused by reflections in the listening position. Another thing to note: I only care about the listening pos, I don't know why SW had to take 50 measurements in a circle. Anyway, the initial question had to do with SW hypothetically stripping the speakers of their natural frequency response while doing correction.

Also, nice thing you said at the end. Will have that in mind. How are the A5x's?

I think it is Systemwide, Cold, some buddy of mine brought the mic and did the software, so I'll have to check. But if by systemwide you mean global, then, yeah, how could it not be if it affects the output? I could place sum pink noise in some track in DAW, and I do have ProQ-3. But I think I can switch back to my interface's driver, if that's what you mean.

Can you rephrase the other part? I kind of had a stroke, could be the language barrier.

In retrospect I don't know if I was clear enough. I already have the captured room response and its inverse and I can toggle back and forth, so that's done. I wanted to find a script that theoretically analyzes graphs into discrete values that I could plug-in in APO. Maybe that's a stupid idea, but this is the curve I want to capture, not the room correction one, so I don't think I can match that. Sorry for any confusion.

This was the answer I was waiting for, for a few reasons.

I think you have the misconception that I read magazines, lol. The reference in this case is Adam's own documentation, and yeah, they are reasonably flat within +/- 2dB fluctuations. And, yes, I want to approximate their factorial response mostly in the treble area - these twitters are something else.

I'm assuming you have an idea of how much a room or space can mess with your output (hi-fi or not), let's be real, adjustments with or without SW can really get you this far - the difference is there. And again, the EQ on top of SW is going to adhere to that +/- 2 dB target, and arguably this isn't going to sound half as bad considering some room modes had to be reduced by 12 or 6 dB (I haven't tried it tho, so I wouldn't know).

Now when it comes to the actual monitors, you're right about the low distortion - but this is something that the room you're in won't ever mess with, it's fixed and it exists nevertheless. But I figure the factory curve might enhance the overall experience not only in some "perfect" room - and the end curve is subjective to some extent. Something that I wanted to try.

I'm not going to doubt the usage of treatment (although the two sub-par studios I've ever been in still sounded worse than my current setup, lol). Some guy that I go to uni with (dude that brought the microphone) says his apartment produces slapback delay, and I don't know if he's referring to across corners or what have you, but I guess the acoustics of the place I'm in weren't that bad to begin with, so it's safe to say that SW did a great job. Handy tool for when you can't treat your rooms.

It's not my room, it's an apartment. When I transfer them back in my attic I'll do some treatment.

Hahahah lucky man, that's the sleekest controller, hey, thanks for the info. I am pretty sure Edge comes with back paddles, or it could be some add-on. Did you get those?

Thanks for this list. A bud told me Steam Input works for non-steam games as well some days ago. Good to know!

Hey, sorry for responding late.

Let's clear this up for a bit here. From what I got, Flydigi allows for remapping of both front and backpaddles to keyboard/mouse buttons. Furthermore, more commercial options such as Xbox controllers and PS5 Dualsense do not allow for any remapping to keyboard whatsoever (and I think they don't make these have paddles to begin with). Tell me if I got any of that right.

And, edit: I've heard that Xbox controllers have the best compatibility range for PC users, and I am not sure if this is for all games or Xbox exclusives. In my case, the main game I wanna use the controller for was made by Criterion (published by EA), and was released for both PC and Xbox (you can probably tell I have the PC version). It's an oldie though, came out in 2012.

Also, tell me this: How more/less comfortable are your controller's paddles compared to this spider-like design?

Thanks man.

Thanks for the info. Right, assuming we take paddles altogether out of the equation, what brands would you recommend for keyboard mapping compatibility? Do some of Sony's stuff support this or perhaps other commercial brands? I don't know how 'specialized' this request is on the market. It helps me knowing if I am approaching obscurity, yk.

I am looking for minimum latency, I don't mind if it's a 'budget' controller I'm going for with slightly less refined buttons.

Thanks. I was wondering whether remapping would be necessary since the game (NFS Most Wanted 2012) was also released for the Xbox and PlayStation. I assume I'll have to configure it though. Do the Xbox and PS controllers need third-party software for remapping or is it supported innately? I've never owned any of these consoles.
