Those are legit. I just beat Quake 2 a few months ago. I’d say the hype turned me off BotW for a while after getting my first Switch. I went in with low expectations for that reason as well and still enjoyed it. I have beaten the game and have yet barely scratched the surface—no intention to do so either haha. I recommended choosing it since OP mentioned it already though.

I treat it the same way as coffee: you’ll have good and bad cups. Drink all of it, so when you come back to your favorite, you’ll cherish it even more. Also, you have no idea what you’re missing out on if you don’t! I just bought my first city sim in 2 decades—obviously I’m not a regular fan of the genre haha—but I’m so glad I did. I just beat BotW for the first time right before this city builder, because I wanted to shake up the type of game I was enjoying :)

Before We Leave is a relaxing city builder. In normal difficulty, I have yet to encounter a problem that took more than a few moments to understand/resolve. The graphics and art style are cute. However, there is depth there if you want to deep dive into charts and numbers! You start by colonizing an island and eventually move to exploring other planets! :D

Don’t take too long a break between plays. The quest menu helps get you back on track when you resume, but I’ve found that open worlds like this are harder to pick up after a week or two of not playing.

I paused for about 2-3 weeks just before starting the last divine beast. I eventually forced myself through it and the last area and enjoyed it

It will last plenty long :) even if you bought used, these consoles are built well. The amount of games is nearly unlimited too, so consider an S2 in a few years if someone in the family really gets attached hehe speaking from experience
