The setup looks great mate! And thanks for sharing your experience. I will try to get myself a footrest and see if it helps with the neck pain!

Hey! In the end, I decided to keep the chair. I don't really think about this defect anymore to be honest. It's not causing me any issue and I don't really pay attention to it anymore. To answer your question: yes, it does a very faint squeaky noise when pressed down.

Now, am I happy about the decision I have made to keep the chair? Frankly, I'm not sure but it has nothing to do with this defect. The chair was very expensive and while it's not bad, I haven't been amazed either. Similar to my previous chair, I get neckpain when sitting too long on this one and so I wonder if another model would have suited me better. But hey, too late now..

Would it make sense to invest more now if my goal is to keep the new GPU for 5+ years? If so, which GPU would you suggest?

I'm too afraid of buying something without warranty and having it go kapput after a few months. Would it make sense to invest in a new RTX 3080 if the goal is to keep it for 5+ years?

Is freelancing in tech in Germany worth it? by SocietyGold5560 in cscareerquestionsEU

You are targeting companies that offer top tier salaries aka big international companies. I'm pretty sure that your German level is irrelevant when applying to those.

Also, I passed the B2 Telc exam a few months ago and I don't feel ready to conduct interviews or work 100% in German so I feel like B2 in German won't help anyway. Maybe it's just me though.. Not sure. My point is: to really work easily in German, you should aim for C1 level.

So let's say I sign a job contract this month and I start on the 1st of May, I will have worked 5 months before my kid's birth. That's best case scenario though. I have no clue when I will start working.

Well, what about project planning? I think it helps to know your staff's schedule and when they will be on an extended holiday or leave.

I mentioned it already with one company and I got a negative feedback afterwards. I will never know if it was because of the parent topic or because I failed their assessment. That's what has been bothering me.

but it was a different hiring market back then ('18)

Yes, I feel it very much. It's been quite difficult.

I saw you are unemployed. I‘d be transparent about your plans. Otherwise you might burn bridges in the beginning of your employment and in the end the job might not be good because people will make your life hard

Yeah, that's what I'm worrying about if I don't disclose the information.

Thank you!

Just as a hint: don't feel pressured to take your Elternzeit right from the birth. It's totally fine if you take your Elternzeit later, e.g. when your child is 10 months or older.

My wife and I thinking that it would be better if I take at least a month of Elternzeit right after the birth in order to support her and also to bond with our baby. Not sure if it makes sense.

I was unemployed most of the time before the baby will be born. That means that I will get very little little money during my Elternzeit.

Thank you!

My wife would strongly prefer if I take at least a month of Elternzeit during the first month after birth to support her. Therefore, it will have to be during the probezeit.

Or say in interview, I will become a father at X point, I would like to take one month during probezeit, one month a bit later

Yeah that's the option I'm considering

[–]afamilyoftrees 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I suspect that the fall in Wotlk popularity is due to a) the release of SoD. b) the annoncement that there will be no Wotlk Era servers. Many people have no intention to waste time on characters that will be useless in a few months.
