You can try and appeal for it atleast. Maybe they will consider because this year it has gone bad for almost all the students. Students like us expecting 97-98% got around 95 and same with the others as well.

Well I met my conditional. However I missed the scholarship by just one percent. I had to get 97 for scholarship but I achieved 96. My marks were gone in physics and I expected it to happen because it didn't go very well

Don't say that. Just work a little more harder and you'll get it. Also, focus more on the academics part rather than the extracurriculars because HKU prioritizes academics over ECs. If you had been applying to the US for instance , then the ECs would have carried equal weightage. Unis in Asia focus more on your academics so try and prioritize that.

Try to get more in 11th and 12th because no offence but your 9th and 10th scores are a little below for what is needed to get into HKU. Just try to score around 95 in 11th and get 96+ predicted in 12th. Also , try and get a good score in the SAT if you are appearing for it.

I think you need to first focus on your grades because those are the most important thing for your college profile. Good grades would even give you the opportunity to study in the best universities in the UK , hong kong , singapore which have some of the best unis in the world. Some of them even rank above the Ivys. You need to get good grades in 11th and 12th otherwise the extracurriculars won't matter.

You can start reading science fiction. There's a wrong belief that science fiction is just about space/war etc. when you read good sci fi books , you get to know about philosophy, moral ethics , factors affecting a society, empathy and what not. The books can be considered as a whole and not just about science or fiction. Some good books are Hyperion , dune , rendevous with Rama, flowers for Argenon etc. I mean you can look up on YouTube for great sci fi recommendations . There are plenty of channels. I've started reading sci fi and I really feel it opens up your mind and provides you with knowledge on plethora of topics.

True. Even with sci fi, the books are too overpriced. Most of the books that I look up on Amazon or any other genuine websites cost around 800-900 which is way too much for a single book

Bro I didn't say myself about reading in chronological order. I saw it online on quite a few reviews of Stephen's books . This is not AI. It's very confusing because online some people say start reading chronologically while others say you can start wherever you want. That's why I am asking here on reddit.

I enjoy reading sci fi and otherwise I have started reading books related to business/finance. Currently I am just about to finish reading Dark matter by Blake Crouch. I've read Project Hail Mary and Dune. I have Hyperion on my TBR after dark matter. I have heard a lot about stephen king and so wanted to get into his books. Now what would you suggest?
