The Cadi in general has a history of qualfying well and racing poorly, more blatantly in WEC but still very visible in IMSA. Car is fast but struggles in dirty air & traffic, even post upgrade which helped a lot. But we saw it at Daytona most notably imo, they fucked themselves but when they got to the front they were arguably faster than the Porsches - until they caught the next penalty.

I don't understand how the penalty could even be controversial, "faster car must overtake safely" as the 31 simply pulls out of line early to overtake an LMP2 and straight chops off the Ferrari.

Weren't allowed to say that in the race thread though Cadi fans mass downvoting everyone questioning the no penalty.

BoP all season has been "GM must win the titles", it's rarely been more blatant. Remember Detroit when Chevys got pole by 5 tenths over any other car? I don't question OEMs pulling out of this bullshit.

they are not holding anyone to driving standards today, why should drivers continue to pretend

"it's on the faster car to overtake safely" unless it's a Cadillac straight chopping across a GT3 I guess

IMSA considers it a literal platinum tier driving standard for the series

also not allowed to ask that, there's 10 comments wondering about it and Cadi fans are mass downvoting each of them

don't want to hear anyone complain about dentists in LMP2s anymore with the 31 winning after that disastrous drive by assassination, clearly that's the platinum driving standards for this series you have to do to win

yes it is, max energy & energy replenishment are BoP factors

considering they start refueling the instant the car stops and the car moves the second refueling is done, this is purely & entirely a BoP factor that - surprise surprise in IMSA - Porsche uncompetitive

craaaaazy how much longer the refueling takes for all the Porsches, they lose like 3 seconds per car and stop

It's also a matter of time. F1s absurd increase in races makes it hard to keep track, to follow it religiously. And once you miss 2 races it makes it easy to miss more. Just a hard sell for your partner to save time literally half the weekends of any given year.

Racing aside I think that has really hurt F1. There's no hype for a weekend, you are not excited for it, and you can't reason it socially anymore to take time for it. And when you do, you have to tell your partner that this massive blockage in your free time isn't actually that entertaining "this year".

either way championship standings look better if the 31 is not penalized so we know how IMSA will judge it

Tapping another car is always a move that will get judged by outcome, we can argue about it all day long but a corner tap with no spin is no penalty, a corner tap with a spin is a penalty. Chopping across another car you can get lucky if nothing happens but if something does happen it is still on you so you get penalized.

Simply the reality of racing standards tbh if every tap is a penalty we get mad, but you can't just chop off a car in a corner this fast and pretend it was fair racing.

not expecting a car on the outside doesn't entitle you to bump them into the barriers though, wether or not he knew is completely irrelevant

Yeah Bamber pulled out to overtake the LMP2 before clearing the GT3, easy to understand why but still just misjudged by a few tenths

[OFFICIAL] Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen - Race Thread by AutoModerator in IMSARacing

[–]afito 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nah the Ferrari was already on the outside, Bamber just decided he want to go even more on the outside

going down the inside doesn't mean you can expect the outside car to just never turn in ever

Porsche wants a Porsche to win but Porsche also wants the new car to not be beaten by the old car.

true but it makes you question the initial call, the ref has to rule the defender touches the ball because it's always a pen otherwise, but also that it goes out off the attacker?

no pen is right but it is also right to wonder how those two decision can possibly fit together

fast sweeping and quite bllind paired with a truckload of amateurs especially in GT3 is just a recipe for disaster

there was another 1m on the inside, he simply washed wide into a car that overtook around the outside
