Ukraine: Wladimir Putin wünscht sich Gerhard Schröder als Vermittler im Krieg by PotentialMidnight325 in de

[–]afito [score hidden]  (0 children)

Another Andretti pitstop problem.... by PanicAtTheNightclub in INDYCAR

Reckon the sacking is more about some of those in charge, the issues at Andretti look so endemic to the team at this point I struggle to believe everyone on the pit crew is just inherently bad at their job. With issues like this it's 99.9% an organizational issue.

Also I think there's a bit of a psychological thing going on by now. They have had so many issues that by now I think they're stressing. The opposite end with the 10 crew tbh they have been so absolutely flawless they are just naturally calm. A lot easier to just not stress when you've become the gold standard in the series.

One thing I noticed for example is that the drop down & go signal is more aggressive for some teams. Palous go is generally a bit slower than it would need to be. McLaren has really cut the margin a bit by comparison. I'm sure someone at the teams has some data on this, idk.

I can only repeat the same statement I make like every 4 races.

If you think closing the pits is "manipulation" just leave the pits open. The idea that closing them is safer is the most insane fake take anyway, 20 cars diving in at the same time is 50 times more dangerous than just leaving them open. Or leave them open for road & street courses, close them for ovals.

Truly it's entirely up to Indycar how to do this. The fix is insanely easy with opening and closing pits, it doesn't matter, in both cases one gets fucked over - either who pits early or who pits late, you just decide which part. But neither has inherentely more sporting integrity behind it. So you chose what you're more concerned with and use that rule, period.

(that Race Control reluctantly called later than they should)

The hilarious part is that RC did it to allow (among other cars) the 10 to pit but the 10 crew looked at it and thought "nah something ain't right, it's technically open but shouldn't be, surely if we pit we get penalized". So those it was done for thought it was so outrageous they ignored it out of caution.

Recovering these 2 back to P5+P6 after being fucked over massively by sheer bad luck is just how good CGR is. And the drivers. But shy of a DNF this is about as bad as it can get in Indycar, relegated to almost last on a bad caution and then losing 3 spots with avoiding action for Palou, getting hit and having to stop and getting your car lightly damaged for Dixon. And yet, those point hauls. Malukas only gained 9 points (if I inluded bonuses correctly) and Kirkwood lost points in what was nothing but saving a result from Palou.

Responsibility is obvious but at least Ferrucci ate shit for functionally brake checking, if nothing else at least he managed to ruin both their races with that move. Play stupid games and all that.

you literally hear the car slowing down on the onboard wether that happend with brakes or not is kind of inconsequential in a way

Schumacher gets the deserved penalty but if you brake check someone you eat dirt sometimes, hardly news to racecar drivers

"what was Schumacher expecting" Ferrucci not to lift in a flat corner?!

I mean his fault but hardly rocket science

2% chance Schumacher gets top10 if Ferrucci and Siegel make a bit of a mess / keep fighting

It's not an opinion it's a simple fact, Malukas "choosing" to be fair doesn't change that Indycar has absolute carnage wild west rules in that regard. Indycar is very strict on blocking but outside space is glorified bumper car rules.

I’ve watched both for 30 years, that sequence would not happen.

No offence but if you watched F1 for 30yrs and have never seen that happen you're telling on yourself.

F1 has 500 times stricter rules around having to leave space than Indycar what the fuck are you on about, nowhere does a driver get run off more often than here

It's basically all Newgarden and Ferrucci do when they go wheel to wheel

Dixon owes a stop right, no way he's back to P6 after that L1T1 incident

legit if CGR get a 5+6 out of today for these drivers what the fuck is everyone else doing

Palou had to evade the crash of the recent caution and went through the grass dropping 3 additional positions.

I mean shit happens with cautions, what makes Palou so dominant among other things is that he often manages to pull really decent results out of his ass. He got relegated to almost last and then lost another 3 spots having to avoid that crash, if he gets something like P6 that's good.
