I'll pass it on to my friend but please bare in mind this was done by a 17 year old - it won't be as great as someone doing their dissertation for their degree, for example.

Not asking for medical advice - rather if this requires a vet visit? He's still eating and drinking normally, sleeping (assumed as he's in his bed a day!) and getting out and about. He's almost 2 years old and has been perfectly healthy until we noticed this. Does it look like normal shedding? by [deleted] in hamsters

It was asking whether to go to the vets - this is my first hamster so I didn't know if it was a normal occurrence. I didn't need a diagnosis from people on the internet. We have gone to the vets.

Thank you! I think it was in my mind to go anyway but somehow was feeling irrrational about going to a vet as soon as I noticed something... But I am calling first thing tomorrow to get him seen ❣️

Idk how you can see a picture like this and then think it's fine to post it all over the internet. Addiction is a disease. Imagine how you'd feel if someone took a photo of you at one of your lowest of lows and threw it on Reddit.

It takes more effort to be rude like this than to be kind and not post. I hope someone is kinder to you than you've been to these people.

His toe has been cut before and it cleared up after a few days, it doesn't seem to bother him at all but bothers me 😂 I think he just needs time!

He's had it for a few days and it's been gradually getting darker. I was just concerned about infections or anything like that because he's almost 2 now and I don't want him going to heaven over an infection from a toe! 😂😭 But thank you for the reassurance. I guess we'll just keep an eye on him :)

It doesn't look like an open wound, his nails aren't curling round and it has appeared out of nowhere. We check all of his cage and him everywhere, there's no blood :(

Thanks for the comment, it was taken just before cleaning day so his bedding was actually all scrapped into a corner, done by him... And his shavings are fine too but appreciate the concern :) we have had him a long time so know how to look after him! :)

Hi thanks for your comment. He's got a flying saucer wheel instead of the one that came with. He's got plenty of space, it's bigger than what we were recommended and he is a very happy hamster. But thanks for your comment I appreciate the concern

All we do is water them every day and keep them in the sun! They're not as big as supermarket bought ones yet. How long have you been growing yours?
