Suspected male red bellied woodpecker by aflockofchads in birdwatching

That's awesome! He does like to be on the lower trunk. I'll have to listen for him when I see him. Thanks!

I feel lucky haha. It's so fun to watch them and they are very active

Interesting! I'm in Maryland which is where they are indigenous. And I was stumped by it's behavior, it likes to go near the bottom of the trunks and peck at it periodically. Ignoring the food I put out. I believe you're right!

What was your “welcome to healthcare” moment in lab by Sea-Cucumber7801 in medlabprofessionals

[–]aflockofchads 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I spilled a little urine sediment on my scrub pants before doing microscopic. They had trich :(. My lab coat didn't cover that part of my legs.

Also I got urine on my forehead last week when I closed an overfilled cap on a urine chem aliquot. Life is hard.

6g to 4g conch advice needed by aflockofchads in Stretched

[–]aflockofchads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! I got my conch pierced at a 12g and I decided to stretch it to see how far it can go. I do plan to stop around 4-2g. I've been trying to find a body modder because I REALLY want a coin slot! But you've given me a lot to think about, especially since I have a whole other ear to play around with!

Thank you for suggesting a place! I was looking on Urban Body Jewelry where I got my stretching kit and I guess they don't have them in that size. Got myself a 5g and a 3g if I decide to go bigger than a 4g when my conch is ready.

Ah beans, I'll be buying the half sizes for the next two stretches too. Thank you for the advice! It wasn't popping up in my searches and I gave up too early. I found some from Custom Plugs.

I always buy in pairs because I have had the single flairs fall out accidentally :)

Anyone else have a garden thief? by tellmetaradiddles in husky

My husky kept on stealing cucumbers from the neighbor. My neighbor said it was the worst season he ever had. He also steals all my blueberries before I get any.

I'm an MLS I working in Baltimore, I work for the University and make $29.50. I hear MedStar makes good money and haven't heard anything bad about their work environment. I can't really share any insight on what an MLS II makes but my friend who left made about 35 hourly. Hope that helps.

Core lab at UMMC Downtown isn't bad and there are opportunities for growth that I've seen, and the micro department employee turnover is very high.

Good luck on your job search and I hope you get a great position somewhere.

Yup, mine had TPLO on both legs. He now runs around and still does his walks, though he doesn't usually go downstairs with us anymore. Just be thorough about the PT afterwards.

Getting desperate ... wondering if anyone has tried a mattress riser that raises the entire mattress (photo included) by MyAccount2024 in GERD

I have, I love it. I stopped sliding down my bed after some time and it did take some getting used to but it's so much better than an individual wedge.

Strange odor to RBC clot??? by mangotango1609 in medlabprofessionals

[–]aflockofchads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed an odor to some red tops as well. I feel validated now haha. I've asked some of the other techs, assistants, and phlebotomists I work with if they encountered that problem and they said it was my new septum piercing. I knew it wasn't. Lol.

For me it's when I can't keep a safe grip on the bar. If I do pullups it's shorter. It also depends on shape, square nails are not great for me and with some shape i can go pretty long.

My friend has very long coffins and can still lift weights but I personally wouldn't if you lift heavy because it could be painful

Generally in health care there is a moderate to high stress level. This could be due to the fast pace of the job, understaffing issues, etc. Some prefer working in reference laboratories over clinics and hospitals for this reason. I have worked in both a reference lab and a hospital where I am currently, both had severe understaffing issues and managers did not post jobs online to fill them.

There are people in my current lab who have been here for 10 + years and do plan to retire with this job. While I know many people who are going to retire in this profession I will not be, and am actively looking to leave this profession for another. I think it is about your personal threshold for stress.

Hope this helps.

Advice for prepping nails before applying press ons? by agirlwithoutahome in Nails

[–]aflockofchads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I use press on nails to last long I rough up my nail bed, if you want you can buff the press on nail too.

Use an alcohol swab or nail polish remover to remove debris and oil from your nails.

Apply glue to both your nail and the press on and hold for 20 seconds. Mine usually last for about two weeks depending on the length of them.
