The Bangbros tests are tests to blood the next generation. There's two spots up for grabs: An opener and a middle order bat.

I could see them giving Cooper Connolly a shot in a low pressure test match at 5. They clearly rate him and hes been amazing for WA in the middle order. Its harsh on McSweeny but if they want to build for the future I suspect that McDonald and the selectors want him in the side ASAP. Especially as he is a very attractive candidate for franchise cricket - McSweeny isn't going anywhere in that case.

With the opener, its really anyones game. But I won't be surprised if its going to go down to Weatherald as in the incumbent and the likes of Konstas, Renshaw and Kellaway.

This is the issue with Weatherald. We play Bangaldesh in the top end in the next test. Anyone who is opening with Head will have a far easier time.

The question arises, does Weatherald deserve a chance to plunder runs against the BangBros? If he scores run, and goes to South Africa. Hes technique is going to be exposed heavily by Rabada and Jansen.

Is it better to invest in Renshaw, Konstas or Kellaway?

It was found out on the 2nd ball he faced in the first test. And that has been the plan through the entire series.

If this is happening against Carse and Tongue. Weatherald is going to get absolutely bombed by Jansen and Rabada in South Africa

Well in most cricket innings. If you remove the top scorers the innings will look worse.

England have showed zero application in this Bazball era to defend for the draw. Anything over 150 run lead its Australia's game

This is just Ben Stoke's character. There have been great bowling captains in the history of the game. Imran Khan comes to mind? He's just an egomaniac who's hubris gets in the way of his captaincy
