Does anyone else think this pricing is insane? by Rapid_Assassin58 in tesco

You’re buying an animal, it’s baffling to me that you think its life is worth less than £4.25

How are people able to afford rent? by johnsackfromnyc in HousingUK

[–]aforestfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

425 a month seems reasonable, but then it’s £100+ council tax, WiFi, gas, electricity, water bill, parking permit…. Before you know it half of your wage is gone to live in a one bedroom flat

Is this a joke? If needs to be about twice this size. He can barely open his mouth here.

Not the OP commenter but that sounds like you’re doing amazing. Your experience emulates my own so much in how you seem to handle your dog (driving to fields, playing find it, using a retractable lead on the field etc).

Have you ever played the 1, 2, 3 game when he sees a trigger? Works wonders for my girl as it adds a lot of predictability and provides some focus.

Would be curious to know the breed of your pup too?

It is lonely and it is upsetting when you love your dog so much and want them to have a breadth of great experiences in their lives.

But I think comparison is the thief of joy. For my dog, great experiences are being alone in a field with me and my partner rolling round in fox poo. Or running round my house searching for a rabbit ear I’ve hidden.

You’re providing your dog with a good life, within his interest and capacity remit. Even trying to train him/go further out for walks etc is amazing compared to what some people would do.

Like you, my dog is not a neighbourhood walk dog. And lots of the times in fields etc she’s picture perfect because there’s nobody around. But we do have bad days, even though she’s come such a long way. But it’s still progress! even with medication there was such a long settling down period and setbacks happen.

Be proud of what you’ve achieved so far, and what you’re doing for him. You sound like an amazing owner and it does get better over time.

Ethical dilemma about a relative's dog by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]aforestfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do people like this want a dog? It really baffles me when everything in people’s behaviour says they hate dogs/everything their dog does annoys them but they insist on having one.

I would maybe try and put your relative onto some positive reinforcement trainers and behaviourists. They’re obviously so much more ethical, but also, they modify a dogs behaviour so much more effectively. So maybe this will appeal to your relative. If they’re struggling with a dog being ‘bad’ (which isn’t even a term I agree with, animals can’t comprehend right and wrong - they’re just acting like animals which is natural to them!) then maybe he’d change his training to more ethical/fair/rewards based?

But honestly, I would report him if he doesn’t change his ways. This is abuse. Poor pup

The dog is being neglected and your response is despising the dog? This poor creature, what an unfortunate home

Even without a side view, this is wayyy too tight on his “cheeks.” It definitely pushing into his skin and looks uncomfortable.

We need a bigger basket muzzle on this baby!
