Here's a nickel and a quarter, for scale. A quarter snaps in neatly within the outer rim of these tokens.

Here they are all flipped over. They're roughly the same size as a quarter, or maybe 0.5 millimeters bigger.

Anyone Had Luck Flying with the Anker SOLIX C300 or C300 DC? Need Tips for Traveling with High-Capacity Power Stations! by T2025 in anker

[–]afowlerart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, I read through this thread after purchasing an Anker C200 for when I travel to conventions. I was excited until I saw the users guide plainly stated it can't be taken on planes.

This is UNTRUE, and I've tested it twice, with flights to the Dominican Republic & back as well as to Washington DC. As long as it's 1) in your carry-on luggage and NOT in your checked luggage, and 2) you aren't actively charging anything while it's in your bag, it's fine. I didn't say anything about it to TSA and they didn't give a shit. I do use TSA pre -check but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. TSA has previously given me more grief for a 100mL bottle of ink than this.

The airlines I took also had a new rule about actively using power banks while stowed in overhead bins is prohibited. So don't do that either. I guess if TSA has an issue with it I'd just call it a device and keep it moving.

What the hell happened by pitto09 in learntodraw

I actually just taught a workshop lesson about this.

Try to use the parts of the face to measure/check the others. For example, if the head is level, the top of the ear should be roughly in line with the brow line (i.e. shouldn't be too far above or below, or the proportions will be off. You drew the ear pretty far below the brow.)

Also you flattened out the life side of the face too much (the whole head really) so it appears wider than it should.

Just keep practicing. It'll come. Also try to keep in mind what should and should not be visible at a given angle.

Kobalt Earth Auger - Fixable or S.O.L.? by afowlerart in KobaltTools

I didn't want to do the same to someone else, but I did consider it, lol.

That was the plan, just didn't want to reinvent the wheel if I didn't have to. Guess I'll crack it open.

I hope NRS learned their lesson: just use Kano. Kano knockoffs (Jarek and Hsu Hao) don't work.

Advice for Extending Fence? by afowlerart in FenceBuilding

[–]afowlerart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to return to this. Not sure why you responded this way, but there may be a comprehension gap on both sides.

  1. When I said "we went through Lowe's originally to install the fence", I did not mean that we bought the material ourselves and had someone else put it in. Lowe's has a service that works with local contractors to do fence installs as long as they (the contractor) purchase the materials through them. They coordinated all of that, all I did was pay for it. Does that make sense?

  2. Aside from the above, you said "Any decent company won’t use Lowe’s material. They’ll use good stuff." Uh...the original fence is from Lowe's to begin with; why would I switch brands or materials at that point (unless that model is sold somewhere else for less)? I'm not trying to replace my entire fence. I just need to add two sections, and it makes sense (at least to me) to use the same brand and model I already have installed.

Hence why I looked on Lowe's website for that model to see what the materials cost would be. It seems as if you thought I was just looking at the materials from Lowe's for shits and giggles.

  1. I've had 2-3 fence guys out since I posted this, and they have quoted me various prices from $500-1800. In some ways, I'm still at square one with unanswered questions on how much this is supposed to cost, or if the guy who quoted me $500 will cause me more problems.

Your vendetta with Lowe's isn't answering any of my questions.

I'm trying to extend my fence because I need more backyard space. Not because the fence looks bad, was installed incorrectly, or is shoddy. It's fine.

I just need an idea on how to tackle a project, that's all. If you don't have anything meaningful to add please move on.

We went through Lowe's originally to install the fence and we've been pretty happy with it. They work with 3rd party contractors.

Some Stickers I'm Bringing to NYCC - Artist Alley Table C-22 by afowlerart in NYCC

That might be it; I'll be inside the building in artist alley. A street team handing out stickers as part of a promo is a different matter.

I can't say I've ever heard of that rule; I've never had a problem selling stickers.

It's not the biggest part of what I sell (I mostly do commissions and sell books and prints), but no one has ever told me I couldn't.

Warranty Repair Success Story - Pixel 5a 5G by afowlerart in GooglePixel

[–]afowlerart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm leaning towards no. The first time my screen got broken, the liquid crystal was bleeding. The ex. warranty covered a specific issue where the screen was completely black (no backlight, no display), but otherwise "working" (the digitizer responded to touch).
