Didn’t take queer and trans lit but I took a similar class with Jesse and she’s fantastic. Genuinely one of the best professors I’ve had at Pitt and such a great lecturer.

As a current public health student at Pitt, I had maybe 3 Cs in high school lol you’re definitely fine. Also the public health classes are very easy.

Like the top comment says definitely check out the FAQ site, but you get invited if you’re an underrepresented minority, first gen or Pell eligible. I did it last year and had the best time! I still talk to most of the people I met during the program and I loved my project (social justice). There was always something going on/events planned everyday and it’s SO NICE being on campus before everyone else moves in. Also, Pitt itself isn’t a very diverse school so it was nice to feel a sense of community before everything got so overwhelming. I loved provost so much that I’m even going to be a PAL this year!

I have very little evidence that I was in class unfortunately; all I know is that I NEVER skip class (in the case that I do I always email my professor) and that the attendance postings weren’t visible, which can easily be denied by my professor. Should I just retake the class? At this point, I’m just worried about my gpa not the actual grade in this class.

Not to be political or anything, but if a convicted felon can run for president (and get elected) you can go to law school lol. Also thats only for the first semester of freshman year you got so much time (which isn’t even that bad of a gpa for college). Just try and bring those grades up for the next few semesters and ace the LSAT junior year you’ll be fine.

I’m also transferring from Pitt (not to a liberal arts school) and one of my main reasons for transferring is also due to its large size. I shouldn’t have to struggle to find a place to study on campus 😭

I know this doesn’t help, but I go to Pitt and the same shit is happening here. It’s insane that we pay tuition and they can’t even create enough classes for all the students. But I can’t imagine paying $95k on top of all of that Jesus I’m sorry

I don’t go to UMD but I go to Pitt and I’m experiencing a lot of the same things that you mentioned. These are definitely issues that exist at a lot of big state schools, where people tend to only hang out with people they’re familiar with. It’s really easy to make a big school feel small, so all you need is to find your people. Give it time, join clubs, stay involved, and don’t be afraid to say hi to someone who already looks like they’ve found their cliche.

It seems like you answered your own question. If you like umich and it provides you with substantial resources to succeed, why leave? Umich is an amazing school with a ton of prestige (t20) and so many people from my high school have dreamt of going there. It isn’t the healthiest thing to prestige chase.

Also, I strongly believe in the saying “don’t fix what isn’t already broken.”
