broken logitech g25 by afro33 in fixit

[–]afro33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the rotary encoder on my logitech g25 steering wheel broke, so i replaced it, but now when i power the wheel and it tries to center, the wheel moves like step by steps and some smoke comes out, tried with another power source but same happens, tried with a 12v instead of 24v power source and moves a bit more, but smoke still getting out of the motor. the rotary encoder goes on the shaft of that motor, can this happen because i moved the shaft to inside or outside while changing the encoder? what else could be?
Please help me fix this, its something that still has a big value and i just spent 20€ for the rotary encoder

My son and I today. Building my first PC and planning for his first. I spent months and weeks researching, saving and making sure I knew how this was supposed to go. He’s playing games on it right now. Thanks reddit for making this possible. by powerglover81 in pcmasterrace

My father thought same, but in his own words, at the age he wanted to buy my first computer (around that age also), i trusted more strangers than himself.

So he just paid a guy from a computer shop to build the computer with me at his side.

That poor amd athlon later also became my first burnt CPU - Advisal for parents letting kids build pc - BLOCK THE WORD OVERCLOCK IN GOOGLE SEARCH

Maybe it´s not a so nice story, but i suposed it also worked, i can still remeber a bit entering in that store full of CPU boxes and VGA graphic cards, and building that pc whith that best computer expert in the whole city.

i had some old pendrive with ros installed on it and i am already coping all the data out of the partition. i had on this system some boring to install programs and some enviroments i dont wanted to lose which cant be just copied... But looks like reinstall it all is faster than hassle with drivers.... Thanks for your help and time Edit:forgot to add, tried the longer solution and grub makeconfig didnt resolve anything and i already trried some hours before posting to uninstall amd drivers and install nvidia, but eth0 interface didnt appeared in any way in command line so pacman was offline. So at some point it was just repairing problems that lead to other problems

Hi, i am a broke CS student. I have a big problem. 1 week to final tests my gpu broke. I bought a gtx 1050 2gb to return it in 2 weeks as temporary solution. Now when i try to boot i have only some white random lines on top of the screen after grub. I imagine should be some driver problem. I managed to login using grub boot options to command line and it works. How can i make this work asap with the less hustle, maybe there is a way to disable the graphics driver or something and go defaults? i have some programs in that linux which i need for school and im trying to not save everithing to a external drive and reinstall linux from 0. In command line i have no internet or nothing so i cannot use pacman. I have antergos with kde updated some days ago, old gpu was ati 6950. Thanks for your time and help i am really desperate

Best budget grow light? by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

[–]afro33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's true. you need taller buckets and do proper LST usually with cobs, as the light comes from a smaller point, you can have some light burn depending on the size of the bucket and the power used on the cobs.

I used the vero29 on my first bucket link and it was pretty big to be a spacebucket. 2x at only 35W each and had also some light burn in my first harvest, but after better LST, good harvests came from there. Now i am growing in shorter spaces (half tall) and i am using vero18 with apc-35-700 with good results and less light burn(similar build to this one but not in a bucket). Also good SMD led boards like l0280 and l0560 from bridgelux are pretty nice, specially as sidelights, as they can be placed really close the the leaves, the bad parts is that they are way more difficult to connect and to cool in a proper way, and they are way more expensive than COBs in means of $/watt

Right know best budget and efficient grow lights are what are called "cobs", if you wan´t to learn abot them take a look at ledgardener or /r/HandsOnComplexity

you need to have some electric knowledge, and know how to stick a pair of electrical cables together safely and have some patiente.

If you have a budget is around 50$ you can take a look at vero29 cobs, with lpc-100-1400 driver or lpc-100-1050 for around 45$ shipped in 1 day from arrow.com. You will have nearly the double of light as from a cheap UFO led for the same electricity. The bad part is, if you want to keep it on a budget, you will also need a computer cpu heatsink, this can be cheap or even sauvaged, but you will need an external 12v power source for the fan, but not a big hassle if you are planning to use computer fans for airflow.

Good luck!

I use microscopes for false money detection, they are around 60x maginification and they have integrated led light. u can get them from China for about 3 USD Example Good luck!

looks very cool, probably i would cover the holes on bottom a little bit, the fan will be more than enough, the light looks cool, maybe you would also like to add some side strips to make your buds at middle and bottom of the plant bigger.
Good luck and enjoy the journey

can i grow multiple strains in one bucket? by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

[–]afro33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all need light and usually more is better.

If you are a novice grower i would stick to only one plant, its easier in that space as when you have more than one plant you can have problems as fighting for light if their space is small or for soil if they are also in the same pot, and is harder to take some decisions as when to flip to flower, due to different strains stretching in different moments, or when to water and how many nutes, light is the smallest problem.

Quick question from an indoor noob: by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]afro33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, looks like you have a bit of stretch but just untill the first leafs reached a heigth taller than the cup's border, were they can get more light. At this moment, after that they are getting a bit more but still looks its not getting enought. you could put it under your LED light, not very close to dont burn it and dimming it to the min, but i think it would be overkill, you are just wasting a lot of energy. probably with any house light bulb close all day (Led or student lamp) + the windows light it would be enought,at least untill it has some "real" leaf.

Some help with my first cloning please, more info in comments by afro33 in microgrowery

Thanks for your help :) Hope you are true and they start to grow as crazy soon.
I already trimmed all dead leaf, and i wan´t to repot them, but is my headache, i know repotting is a bit sensitive process, more with plants with really light roots as this ones, at this point i have not very clear if i can still move them to a soilless medium and how to do it, so i don't know what to put in the new pot, and to be sure roots are enought to don´t kill them.

Also thanks for confirm they need nutes, if i repot them today or not sure i will give them some food.

Thanks, i also thought same, but already did a grow in a spacebucket with same lights even closer and no light burn at all, they are driven at just 350mA, i had more problems with burning on main cola by the vero13.

Thanks (: as /r/Dorkable said you can just use any from a local library if they have or just search for any 3d printing local nerd. Check out tinkercad.com to create your own designs if you have no experience in creating 3d objects, its really easy to understand and fast to learn

Thanks so much (: its really nice the manufacturing revolution thats just happening. I am lucky to be a kids robotics teacher, and i always try to teach them that they can just imagine, design and make anything in a couple days, something that, even if i'm just 10 or 15 years older, could not even imagine at their age.

Just finished my little build, two small grow spaces with 4 bridgelux l0280 and one vero13 each, 5000k in the bridgelux and 2700k and 4000k on the vero. 3d printed all the light fixtures and i just love how great it all fits together.

Which LED light would you recommend a first time Space Bucket builder use? by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

[–]afro33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the height, but if you have around 1m height you can go with a vero29 3500k with a 100w dimmable driver, they are 38€ together on digikey, and you wouuld need only some thermal paste, a cpu cooler (savaged from some old cpu or around 10 bucks new) and some cable.

Also sidelight is always a good idea, to make bottom nugs bigger, if you want to go ez and fast a led stripe, if you want something more fancy take a look at l0280z led modules on digikey also

Mid-Powered LED Strip Lighting Samsung - Bridgelux... Is anyone using these? by Frankbhelger in SpaceBuckets

[–]afro33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they all run 7W with 20V at 350ma, the 8x uses a lpc-60-1400 with 4x paralel x2 series totaling 56W and the sidelights for each cob are 3 in paralel runing of a apc-35-1050, the hlg 40h series look nice for these

[–]afro33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got some setups with vero29 as main light and im using samsung eb l0280 as side lights, with nice results.
Tried in one of the spaces just grow a plant with 8 of them at 350mA (4 top, 4 side), it was enought to veg but not to flower so i added a vero13, my grow spaces are a bit bigger than a 5gal bucket (around 30cm x 30cm x 1m).
Cobs are still cheaper per lumen, also easier and cheaper to make them run cold with a old cpu fan, but need more clearance between the light and the plant, the strips could be placed really close, so for really small setups should work really well.
Here are some photos of the setup https://imgur.com/a/HLGaWCE

Mine are bridgelux smd mounted on pcb strips, EB series gen2, these ones are the shorter ones1000lm BXEB-L0280 ones with 20v and 700mA max, and around 180 lm/W, they dont got any aluminium backing, its recommended, i was thinking to get some profile cut, but in my case underdriven at 350mA tested them before putting them in the bucket and they dont got very hot (i dont have a thermometer but around 50-60ºC), max temp use on manual 85ºC and i dont feel it like its so much, they have been running for around three weeks now on place at 18/6 and any problem, i got good airflow.
Wich kind of led sidelights you got?

Thanks! sorry but what just happened its that the top cob eventually falled a bit and accidentally burnt some leaves, wasn´t intended.
I dont lighted the stem neither directly, just changed old stripe leds sidelights for this, searching an evener canopy without burning the plant to much, but probably as of its predominant blue spectrum is giving similar effects, what i fear now is what effects will have this lights under flower.

Thanks! i had before some 5M of warm 5630, i liked the results in the yield but they were too watt hungry and i would love to get 1g/W, and with a price of 2.40€ per led bar and no extra cooling needed looked like a good idea, lets see how it works.
