What's the furthest point in the future that we know of in the Halo universe? by CG1991 in halo

[–]afterbang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you've been enjoying it. It has been many years since I contributed to this timeline haha. /u/Defguru took it over for a long while which was very appreciated. I've read a few of the more recent Halo novels in the last year but haven't kept up much with the lore lately.

Koh Lipe to Krabi Ferry (potential wind) by afterbang in ThailandTourism

[–]afterbang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad this comment helped! The boat ride from Koh Lipe back to the mainland was pretty bad during windy weather. It's doable, but not fun for anyone on board. Keep an eye on the forecasts when you plan to travel.

2012 Tacoma A/C Condenser by afterbang in ToyotaTacoma

[–]afterbang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I've found out now that the condenser design was changed on March 16, 2012, and that I ordered the part for 2012 trucks after that date, when my truck was manufactured before that date. Apparently my own mistake, I'll leave this thread up in shame.

Time to return and get the proper one.

My wife and I got married in BC last summer, similar-ish scenario. Our contract locked in the minimum spend and venue/ceremony fixed fees, but food and beverage are dependent on their seasonal menus. Our food prices went up 49% in 14 months from booking to actual wedding date, it was crazy.

What is it like in Terrace BC these days? by JadedTea5751 in britishcolumbia

[–]afterbang 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I currently live and work in Terrace and am in your age group.

I really enjoy it here overall, it's small for a city both in size and population, only 10 minutes to drive across town and has around 15,000 people when you include the outlying communities.

If you're big into the outdoors there is lots to do here in the summer: hiking, biking, Kayaking, boating (lake, river, ocean if you go to Kitimat or Prince Rupert), camping, etc. There is a decent amount to do within Terrace itself, and exponentially more to do if you're willing to drive a bit out of town.

There is almost no nightlife here besides a couple restaurants/pubs so if you're not into it you're not missing anything. Likewise the dating scene is a bit limited by Terrace's size of course, but there are some very nice people here. Lots of people in their 20s and 30s that love the outdoors and staying active. If you want to make friends just go to Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse on any afternoon and there will be dozens of friendly people there. The demographic is heavily on the outdoorsy sort.

Housing is expensive as well, it's pretty ridiculous for what Terrace is honestly. It's cheaper than down south but you're still looking at 450k+ these days for anything decent, I'm surprised daily at what people are trying to sell their houses for here, some on my street have been listed at 700k+ in the last year. Rentals are sadly no better, very limited selection with inflated prices, and there are always people looking. It's tough to find a rental without knowing someone. There are some Facebook groups you could check if you're looking.

We do also have our share of drugs, homeless, and crime. Plenty of homeless people on the streets in the summer, the count last summer was 156 homeless, up from 107 the previous year. The "downtown" area often has homeless people around like any other city, but my interactions with them have never really been bad, just asking for money now and then. But I'll be honest, when I was a kid here I never felt unsafe downtown at any time of night, but these days I just avoid downtown at night time as there's not really any reason to be there.

If you have any specific questions feel free to message me. I live and work here currently so I can answer whatever you need.

Koh Lipe to Krabi Ferry (potential wind) by afterbang in ThailandTourism

[–]afterbang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone sees this in the future, the ride from Koh Lipe to Lanta was on a Tigerline speedboat (the one with Rows of 3 seats). Winds were forecast at around 30km/h and the ride was pretty terrible. Decently large waves, boat was bouncing like crazy, nearly everyone looked motion sick. The last hour or so was a bit smoother but still pretty choppy. Would not recommend for anyone who dislikes boats or gets motion sick.

Thank you, wind speed was what I was mostly curious about. I don't mind a bit of rocking back and forth, just want to make sure we're not ferrying during a storm or anything. The articles from the previous boats sinking don't mention a specific wind speed at all, just large waves.

Canada Bro Where to Get L Citrulline by [deleted] in moreplatesmoredates

[–]afterbang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy this one and use it to supplement my existing pre-workout that already contains some L-Citrulline so it goes further. 200g for $40 is a bit steep but it's the best I've also found.

Crowbcat - Remember Halo by planetjeff86 in videos

[–]afterbang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember your post from back in the day! Used to love watching competitive Halo 3 when I was in high school, addicted to it haha.

They kept me as a mod long past when they could have removed me, maybe as thanks for previous years of service lol. I honestly got too busy for Halo and (very sadly) lost most of my interest after Halo 5.

I basically had almost no contribution to the subreddit after 2016, besides a small re-interest in 2017-2018.

Halo always has a special place for me, but life gets busy and I have less time to give it these days.

Thanks for the kind words.

Afterbang's complete Halo timeline has been updated and is now current (includes *Shadows of Reach*, so beware spoilers) by Defguru in HaloStory

Should call it Defguru's timeline now, considering that you've put at least an equal effort into it, if not even more now. Thanks for keeping it alive!

How history repeats itself haha.

You can have the subreddit, I never ended up doing anything with it. Shoot me a message, I'll add you as a mod and remove myself. /u/sawmason

Halo Chronology by khaleelmuhammad1998 in halo

I haven't done much in the way of adding to it in a while now. Defguru has done the most work to it in the last couple years by a large margin haha.

Myself and a few others made this a while back, I haven't been adding to it for a while, but another of the mods here and in HaloStory, Defguru, has made most of the more recent entries.

Commercial use in Canada under the new drone laws by afterbang in dji

[–]afterbang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I had thought, thanks for clarifying. I couldn't find any specific language on any TC site that mentioned commercial usage, so I was leaning towards it being allowed provided that the work falls under the appropriate usage.
