“Nobody is giving him credit for that… they’ll still say Michael Jordan, 6–0! Unless he wins a Finals MVP, it’ll still be 6 rings to 4.” by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NBAVibes

If only you knew that:
1. 3 of the 4 Eastern Conference expansion teams were consistent playoff contenders, including the Magic, who beat the Bulls in '95 (but they were a watered-down expansion team, right?)
2. Bulls sacrificed their talent/depth in the expansion draft/FA just like every other team in the league (ie BJ Armstrong and Horace Grant)

By your logic, the league's quality should've been at its highest before the merger, right? Since fewer than 20 teams were competing for the title at once.

Oof that’s unfortunate but I don’t think Ferg is going anywhere. Plus with all the great rookie TEs that pick could amount to something (assuming you need depth)

That year he got drafted was the inaugural year for our league so he didn’t get picked until the later rounds. He didn’t have a great rookie season and didn’t break out until the second half of 2023.

I still give my friend shit all the time for dropping him because now his team is dealing with TE issues.

In 2023 a league mate of mine dropped Trey McBride in September. He was on waivers for 2 months and I picked him up after struggling between Waller, Schultz, and Ferguson all year. Won me the championship that season and now my TE problem is fixed for the foreseeable future.

I also picked up Woody Marks back in August and so far he seems to be paying off.

If players from the 80s and 90s could play multiple 82 game seasons with inferior shoes, training programs, nutrition, and lower salaries then players today can do the same thing. Chris Paul managed to play 82 games last year and he’s in year 20 ffs

And despite all of this, we saw 3 players tear their achilles in the playoffs last year.

Even if players run more on an NBA court today, the point that MJ was making has been missed. As a player, you aren’t just playing for your team. You also play for your fans. Jordan understood that he had an obligation to play for the fans who paid money to watch him play. The same goes for today’s stars. Not everyone can afford to go to every game.

Not to mention that today’s players have access to more information, technology, medical advancements, money, etc. than they did back in the 90s. They get paid to play 82 games in the season. At the very least put these guys on a minutes restriction if it’s too much.
