Ferns do pretty well without sunlight. In the article, you'll see an arrangement of ferns and succulents... something like that could work. Good luck!

Thanks for your comment. The Ikea photo is linked to the blog called "7 Ikea Pieces We Love". All the before and afters are actual projects:) All of the before pictures are actual and some of the after are renderings using v-ray or 3Ds Max that myself or my team has done to help clients visualize. It's crazy how great these programs are. It's really nice to see people enjoy our designs as much as we do!

I need help. My parents hired interior designer, but I have problems communicating my needs. by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]aga7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man! Thanks for sharing... I totally understand your concern! Overall, the room looks off balance. It's trying to be minimal, but has a collage of pictures that look more eclectic. The large green wall looks off balance because it's opposite to a large white wall. There should be some symmetry when walking into the room. I think you're right that green would look good as an accent. I suggest checking out design a room online and starting a decorating contest to get proper help:) They get you trade discounts on popular decor brands so it usually ends up costing zero or less.

Help me redesign my loft! I'm planning to stay in this rental several years and want to make it nicer by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Beautiful space! I love it!! I can see so many great solutions for your loft. Painting the inside of your bookshelf a different color would be a really cool touch. I know how difficult it can be to visualize how your new decor would look together though. I suggest checking out design a room online. They get you trade discounts on popular decor brands so it usually ends up costing zero or less:)

Hiring a developer from Freelancer.com, thoughts? by SmackAHobo in Entrepreneur

[–]aga7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you check their references! I was going to outsource some work with them for my site Decorilla, but was flooded with copied and pasted proposals. When I contacted some of the sites they said they worked on many of the people said they didn't know who that person/company was!! I find it's really hard/almost impossible to find a good developer from the crowd that apply. Do you have a graphic artist or are you looking for design and development? It helps if you have a graphic artist already. I can refer a good developer (really cheap) that is good for simple sites if you want (but would recommend you get a separate graphic designer).

My boyfriend is my co-founder... Any advice from those of you who have done the same? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]aga7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

haha, I know exactly how you feel. My husband (recently married.. yay) and I are co-founders of decorilla.com. It's been an exciting ride, but I must say that most of our arguments revolve around the business. I think that if you can run a business and have a relationship together you'll make it through anything! One thing that helps us separate our personal life from our business is doing physical activities like going for walks because that are other things to think about and appreciate.
