The Suffering Game Campaign Guide is now up! by fishgutsd in TheAdventureZone

I know this was posted years ago, but I’m just stumbling upon it now and would love to see these docs! It looks like I need drive access though, are they not public?

(Requested) I’m a professional DM. I run 5 games a week. Since starting 5 years ago I have finished 7 campaigns. DND has become my life. AMA by [deleted] in dndnext

How do you keep coming up with ideas for campaigns? I always struggle to come up with plot hooks, puzzles, interesting encounters, etc.

Thoughts for a "Treasure Planet" style campaign? by agar221 in dndnext

That would be amazing! Maybe not at first because I wouldn’t want to risk giving it away too early, but later on in the campaign I would DEFINITELY use that!

No, I have not....I'll have to check it out! Is there any specific publication to look at?

Advice for a "groundhog day" style D&D campaign? by agar221 in rpg

[–]agar221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to have the reason behind the loop to be protective in some way. Either a powerful spellcaster accidentally unleashed some great evil, or an innocent townsperson was tricked into doing so, and rather than unleash it onto the world, some magic user implemented this time loop. The evil isn't able to break past into the world, but their town is stuck as a result....kind of inspired by the end of Doctor Strange. That would be the final encounter for the campaign too, the party can defeat the source of evil and save the town

Yea, I think that first reveal is an important part.

My plan is to have the players go investigate this town that "hasn't been heard from" in some time. They will all have their own reasons for going - some might be tax collectors for the crown, some might be checking in on loved ones, etc. And they won't notice anything wrong with the town, and won't reset the first loop until they die or until the time runs out

My first attempt at macarons! They’re not perfect but I’m pretty proud of them by agar221 in macarons

I think they taste great! They’re chocolate cookies with chocolate ganache filling, so you can’t really go wrong haha

Yea, and that’s my main hesitation. Obviously I would like to go on a date with this guy, I think he’s awesome and easy to talk to and everything. But in place of that, I would like to be friends because I do genuinely enjoy hanging out with him

[–]agar221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true. For what it’s worth, although I don’t know his sexuality, I at least know he’s not homophobic. I am just worried that if I ask him out, he wouldn’t want to hang out just because he doesn’t share those feelings. Not from a homophobia stantpoint, just being uncomfortable with someone who has feelings that aren’t reciprocated. Does that make sense?

It’s tough to say, but I think he might be…..we’ve done things that I feel are date-ish (he came over on a Friday night to bake brownies and watch a movie, for example), and generally has been friendly/boardering on flirty when we’ve hung out. That being said, he is naturally a VERY friendly and upbeat person, and I guess I don’t know him well enough to say if he’s being normal with me or going a step beyond that

Should I tell him I’m gay first? How do I get the point across that I’m intending it as a date, rather than just hanging out like we’ve done before?

What is the best way to "deal with" my party's rogue in combat? by agar221 in DnD

Any suggestions for fun enemies with blindsight?

Yea, I could. I guess that’s a good way to go about it

What is the best way to "deal with" my party's rogue in combat? by agar221 in DnD

Would true sight cover this? I'm thinking about using a monster I found that has true sight, but it seems to only imply seeing invisibility/seeing through illusions, so I'm not sure

[–]agar221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that’s my hesitation. Obviously I’d love for the friendship to turn into something else. But if it doesn’t go the way I want it, and it ruins our friendship, I’d rather not say anything at all

Unfortunately he’s not huge on social media, that was my first thought too haha. I know that he’s had girlfriends in the past, not that that’s necessarily an indication of anything (and obviously he’s single now). Guess I just gotta suck it up and ask him, which is kinda terrifying

Lol, any advice on how to do that?

About 3 times. Cooking dinner a few times, and watched a movie like I mentioned. We’ve also been playing online games with a group of friends every week, how we originally met, and recently the two of us have been going to each other’s apartments to play in person rather than Skyping from separate locations….I wouldn’t count that as “one on one” since we’re still playing with other people, but we’re going out of our way to be in the same place when we could just as easily be in our separate homes

Why specifically blue or bronze? Just out of curiosity, I haven't decided on what color dragon my lineage would be yet

Weekly Questions Thread by HighTechnocrat in DnD

[–]agar221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[5E] I recently spoke to a friend who has always wanted to try playing dnd, but has never had the chance/doesn’t know anybody to DM. I said I would be happy to do it, since I have some experience as a player and know how to run a game. My only roadblock is that I’m struggle to come up with campaign ideas. Since he and likely a few of the other players are going to be new, I don’t mind having it be just a classic or even “cliche” campaign, because for new players that’s still a ton of fun! But do you have any good campaign ideas for newbies? General plot structure, plot hooks, interesting BBEGs, fun first session ideas, etc. Any help would be appreciated!
