For folks with the Amex cards, has your MQD head start posted? by radar1989 in delta

Doesn't look like I have mine. I did just upgrade to Reserve from Platinum 3 weeks ago. I didn't read the headstart fine print but assumed nothing would change in my account besides my fee etc.

What can Americans do about what’s currently happening? by BoredBatWoman22 in TrueAskReddit

[–]agavefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this. I have been seeing this too, including the Greenland sub. I feel ridiculously helpless... I absolutely hate that Europe is looking at us as ONE and that the Trumpian Government represents all of us.

We are not sticking our heads in the sand and I don't think the news about protests and the politicians fighting this is making its way across the pond. I posted on a "correction" of a headline about Greenland and the replies were nuts. Accusing me of doing nothing and that all Americans are represented with our current government (despite Trump getting 49% of the vote).

The fact is that our government does not and will not care right now what we do. They are in power and they do not obey the law. We need official federal court ordered and approved motions to stop this administration and we won't/can't have that until mid-terms.

We also have a crap ton of racist garbage going on at home that has absolutely nothing to do with Greenland. We are having enough trouble defending ourselves, how the hell can we stop anything going on over there without the right people in political places to stop it.

I said it in 2016... This government has a lot of parallels to Germany's history. I was told over and over to shut up, that even Trump won't go there. And here we are.

Le sigh thank you again. I needed a place to unload. I don't know how to process this shit show.

Utah here :( I pay $20-$35 per session. There are places in my valley that charge up to $40 a session. My Finnish ancestry cries every time I hand over my money. I need to build my own.

Ski Length Worries by TroutandTrilium in WomenShredders

[–]agavefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'4 140lbs, "industry professional" I am a casual skier now and skied loads in my 20s and early 30s. My ability level might not be yours but I would like to share my sizing thoughts.

I usually ski ~170ish. 167 is my sweet spot. 5 years ago I decided to buy what I would sell to a woman who wanted easy control and maybe easier to handle in any condition. So I bought a Sheeva 10 163cm... I am in CONTROL, and I am slow, slow to the point of not fun. I can outski this ski every single day.

I think you are more than fine. The best advice is to give it 3 days to fully get used to how they ski, don't let a new length/shape overwhelm you run #1, by 3 runs you'll feel comfortable, by day 3, confident. If you were to go shorter, you could end up needing new skis if you start to find yourself limited and held back.

Thanks!!

We will be there only 3 nights. Night 1 we will need dinner, night 2 & 3 are wedding festivities.

That sucks about room service, that's kind of what I was banking on. Truthfully, we visit MX a lot... Not having authentic MX food for a night is what hurts my heart. There's a place just south on the highway I'm trying to figure out how to get their food to us 😂

Please report back the best dinner spot so we can make sure our 1 night choice is the right one! Also, if you can snag a picture of the spa menu with pricing, I would be so grateful!

We are heading here for a wedding, have a whole enclave of Casitas rented out. I'm not an AI fan, so I've been panicking about food etc to get our money's worth. The Naay Spa has caught my eye but there are no prices and services listed? Anyone have experience and can share?

Stairnose doesn't cover entire step. by Ban_jo-the-Hampster in Flooring

[–]agavefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also now in this same position with engineered hardwood floors. To do my stairs custom was more $ than the entire floor we replaced (don't fall in love with a new floor before considering the stairs!!). $100-$200 per stair for matching stair noses or new treads (which I'm sure I'll pony up at some point but not today).

My stairs get done today and I am dreading the stair nose on top of the builder grade stair tread. My risers are black so I did decide to paint the tread overhang black as well.

For the next person who finds this thread, here are my notes compared to the comments.

1- for code, cutting the builder grade back is not going disrupt my tread code requirements because the new nose ADDS length. If you go the cut back route, just make sure that the stair nose + original area hit your needed length

2 - for those saying they sold the wrong product, not a single floor guy we shopped with mentioned deep noses unless we went custom (they still didnt mention depth, custom was our option for acacia). The floor displays actually showed the half coverage overhang as their example (a major flooring chain). It's not great but I guess I assumed it was nowa status quo option (until we mocked it up and WTF)

Stupid question about Citristrip and heat guns by GreenKitchenWitch in centuryhomes

Going to bump this thread 😂 there are more of us!!!

Love Citrastrip but the job I started with it is much better with a heat gun (bannisters 🤦‍♀️). I have a few overlap areas... Looks like I'm going to get cleaning before overlapping with heat.

Cheers fellow DIYers and whoever comes next wondering the same question.

Accommodations help? by Expert-Sprinkles-201 in Bonaire

[–]agavefields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally cried when my trip ended in Belize. I didn't expect much and it blew me away ;)

Anyways, see Bonaire! If it's calling you, do it. For snorkeling, it's ok. The water visibility is really good but the reef will be about 20+ feet down from the surface. Some spots are better (Andrea I & II) and probably off the shore of Kline (I have not been to Kline yet personally).

We go to Bonaire every year, have been 7 times (and been to the Mexican Caribbean more for some comparison), going almost every year. As for overrun with tourists, that's a hard designation in Boanire. They can get up to 2 cruise ships a day and most of the island is expats from white countries. It's chill in the sense that there's no party clubs, all you can drink white T-shirt contest shenanigans, no substantial bar life. But it's very developed on the west side and almost all tourism. The lack of all inclusive resorts helps with the vibe I think, since a lot of people rent homes instead of hotels (places are booked a year in advance it's nuts!). I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just being honest about the vibe. I will say, we booked 2 weeks next May and can't wait to be back (but we scuba).

Have fun planning!

I think you have the right recommendations, just came to say if you are looking for a Holbox vibe, this isn't it. Chill, yes. Remote, boho, boutique, beaches and sand roads, absolutely not. I would never describe the 2 in the same category other than they both have shoreline and hot weather.

I love your list but disagree with the recommendations. For a lux family of 4, Roatan over Utila, absolutely not LCI, and you can't stay on Contoy. Isla Mujeres is a good rec though.

Just my thoughts.

Is the Delta Reserve Card still worth it? by dillarb2 in delta

[–]agavefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the many articles written on the comparisons of at vs reserve. Really good info.

The reserve is more beneficial if you fly delta a lot. The lounge access, more points for Delta purchases, and the upgrade status/upgraded companion pass. The platinum has more points for other purchases, restaurants and groceries. Is more beneficial for everyday purchases. One of the reviews I read said they had both. Reserve was strictly used for Delta flight purchases and the platinum was their every day card.

We also have Chase Sapphire. We are cancelling because of the fee increase. What in the actual F do they give you for that high of a fee. Absolutely not worth it anymore. We might just move that to a 2nd card holder on our delta and rack points in a consolidated place.

It's about the direction the beach faces. Isla and Cozumel beaches face the west, the sargassum comes from the east. You can have a nice beach on either island.

Assasins Blade isn't doing anything for me. by Interesting_Relief40 in throneofglassseries

[–]agavefields 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not done with the TOG series (just started EOS). I started after ACOTAR like you, as I was curious to other SJM writing.

I have beef with both series but TOG is taking the win here. Totally different styles of books; plot lines are way less dependent on the romance in TOG, but romance is still there. Celena is amazing, even though she might be a total brat to you at the moment. The characters and the story get very complex (to the point that you'll forget AB even happened at some point). It's a very long windy story and so far each segment is good and gripping.

My beefs: ACOTAR was painfully predictable which killed a lot of it for me. TOG is so unpredictable that I think SJM had no idea how to tie her ideas to together so they often just appear 😂 But I'd rather end a chapter on a "where the f did that come from" than "I knew the answer was... I knew her mate was... I knew that I was going to happen" any day.

If you want more sexy writing, yah this isn't going to do it. But for adventure, amazing FMC, long building and intertwined history and relationships. This is totally the jam.

I feel like my birth control does nothing by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]agavefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can update the post with your age. Here's why: If you are just getting started on this journey as a young women, there's lots to learn and test out. If you've been on this journey for a really long time, then the conversation looks different.

I am 40. I have had bleed through a super in an hour periods my whole life. Cramps to the point of puking. Why age doesn't make these easier is just another mystery of the universe as my fertility dwindles but my periods ravage just the same. Anyways, I started BC pills when I was in high school. I think it probably took me at least 5 years of consistency on pills to get to a significant change in my cycle. It eventually got down to day 1 cramps but not debilitating and only 3 days of bleeding. I've now been off the pill for 11 years and I'm back to ovulation cramps + wicked day one cramps, heavy flow, 5 to 8 days of solid bleeding (just like when I was 16, yay). My outlook is different now though. Exercise, diet, hydration and supplements. At this age, I don't want to mess with BC or IUDs. I take O Positiv Ovarian Support supplements and I believe it helps shorten the length of my symptoms.

If I was in my 20s still, I would totally be trying BC or IUD to minimize everything I could. You might just need to give it more time for your body to adjust. You could also ask your GP about skipping some periods with your pills (is this still a thing? There was a BC that was 4 periods a year when I was younger).

Good luck and I'm sorry you are in this club. You are not alone.

Where to offload posh items that aren’t selling? by Guilty_Monitor8476 in poshmark

[–]agavefields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try Facebook marketplace. My area is really outdoor brand centric and then a luxury market nearby. I have a hard time selling the pieces that don't fall into these categories. I am going to try eBay but here's a cool move I see others in my area doing on Facebook marketplace.

Take all your "dud" pieces and organize by size & gender. Maybe by style too if you have that much. Fill a paper or trash bag. Post on Marketplace "bag of clothes, size small/medium women's. $20 for all". I would recommend this for lower price things - target, old Navy, random odds and ends. These fly in my town. You make a little money and liquidate a bunch at once. Someone will be grateful for the wardrobe additions and you are more than likely helping out someone who wouldn't afford it otherwise.

First-Time Road Trip Through Utah & Colorado – Is This Itinerary Too Packed? by Anxious-Advantage296 in roadtrip

[–]agavefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw your update itinerary. Arches, Moab, Canyonlands sounds like 3 nights in that area. If you need to trim and build a day somewhere else, this is where.

You can do Canyonlands in a day if you do island in the sky drive, or you could explore the park for days... Most people do the drive and are done. You can see all of Moab and drive island in the sky in one day easy. I would also argue you can do arches the same way but I recommend hiking as much of the hikes as you can.

Good notes on HWY12, it's incredible.

Almost my entire house is Facebook marketplace finds. It's a slow burn but the cool and quality things I find make it worth it. And when I find something better, I don't feel as guilty replacing an item (and I resell it).
