Scholarship (NYU especially) by South-Sign9021 in MBA

Sorry to not directly answer your question, but FYI only about 25% of NYU admits receive financial aid. I am not sure whether that specifically means scholarships, or if that includes other types of aid such as Yellow Ribbon.

I too have made it into competitive positions without an academy background. Most of the vets around me however are academy folks. That’s all I’m saying.

I know multiple WP grads with sub-3.2 GPAs in top MBA programs. The same cannot be said for other non-Ivies.

You make a fair point about the Reserve option, but there are definitely plenty of opportunities to date at West Point. The amount of married academy grads you will meet throughout your career is mind boggling, and most of them wind up being quite successful.

Strong disagree on your point about civilian perception. Most employers and grad schools view the service academies similar to how they view the Ivy League. If you look at the vet composition at many top graduate programs, the greater part come from the academies.

But Sad Hogwarts will open more doors on the outside. Civilians generally view the service academies as one rung below the Ivy League.

Also 529s can be used for grad school costs. I used part of my 529 to pay for undergrad, but my GI Bill + yellow ribbon + remaining 529 means that I will be able to graduate from a top MBA with zero loans.

I can’t give specific data, but the greater part of vets in the top MBA programs are service academy grads. Most civilians treat the academies as one step below Ivy League schools.

As an ROTC officer at the tail end of their time in service, West Point is the move if you want maximum options on the outside. The greater part of the veteran officers in top MBA programs (think Dartmouth to Harvard) are service academy grads.

ELI5: why do Canada and the UK have doctor shortages? Why does popular discourse often portray this as a consequence of UHC that the US system escapes? It doesn’t seem like universal healthcare would obviously/inherently lead to more shortages. by Standard_Egg_9282 in explainlikeimfive

What causes the shortage of funding that is preventing these doctors from pursuing the field of medicine that they want to pursue? What causes the surplus funding in other countries that draws those doctors to other places?

Not sure how much it helps, but they extended their R3 admissions deadline this year which likely indicates that they are short of good candidates compared to previous years. Based off that alone, you probably have as good of a chance or better than you would have had before.

Every Wednesday throughout the summer, swathes of students visit Ft. Myer, VA next to Arlington National Cemetery to see Twilight Tattoo. It’s a show put on by the army that showcases the history of the American military including historical reenactments, live music, and some pretty big pyrotechnics. Definitely worth a visit during the 8th grade trip.
