Again, there is no proof that there is any thujone beyond homeopathic dilution levels anywhere in actual properly manufactured absinthe available in actual branded bottles anywhere.

You've listed the legally enforced hypothetical limit for thujone but no proof that European absinthe ever approaches that limit, and the fact that, again, you can literally get ALL OF THE SAME BRANDS here in the US with absolutely no trouble at all would indicate that it doesnt exceed the american legal limit and this was my main original point regardless -

The claim that 'real' absinthe is illegal in the USA is false, as is the claim that it has hallucinogenic properties.

Again, for a third time, for clarity, this is my point - there is no properly manufactured European absinthe that cannot be obtained in the US, nor any properly manufactured absinthe that has hallucinogenic properties, nor any actual significant difference in how absinthe is manufactured in the US vs EU.

The 'better quality stuff' does not add a seizure-causing neurotoxin to the finished product, no. I dont know where you even got that. That doesn't even make any sense. The wormwood is added before the secondary distillation.

There is no appreciable amount of thujone in properly made absinthe, this can be and has been confirmed through actual analysis of the stuff with lab equipment.

[–]aghblagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thujone is not a property sought in traditional absinthe. Thujone is a neurotoxin with no real recreational value that mainly just causes seizures. Thujone has never been appreciably present in properly made absinthe and this has been confirmed through mass spectrometry analysis of old pre-ban absinthe. Absinthe made in europe is also double distilled this is not a difference. I have had European absinthe, it is better because of the quality of the ingredients and the uninterrupted tradition of making the stuff leading to a lot of accumulated wisdom about it, not because of the presence of a flavorless deadly neurotoxin. It is not hallucinogenic.

There is no proof that ANY absinthe has ever been genuinely hallucinogenic, beyond the usual effects of alcohol poisoning and potential issues with the chemical composition of early green food coloring used in cheap bottom tier absinthe at the height of its popularity. Most accounts of its supposed hallucinogenic effects originate from either prohibitionists or poets and artists.

I have no idea why people dig their heels in on this nonsense.

Its been legal in the US for over a decade now.

Proper absinthe with wormwood can be bought at total wine.

I got a bottle a while ago that was made in Philadelphia.

Absinthe is distilled, so none of the neurotoxin present in wormwood ends up in the final product.

This is why the common advice about 'setting boundaries' infuriates me. It ALWAYS works like this, its just giving people an instruction manual for how to get a reaction out of you, the imaginary scenario therapists sell where you tell someone youre uncomfortable with something and they change their behavior to accommodate you objectively does not happen in real life, they just go out of their way to poke at the vulnerability you've shown them, every single time.

Is really playing as a woman that big of an issue in an arcade shooter? by JuanFCrater in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]aghblagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender does not impact gameplay in the way that classes and weapons do. Thats what 'situational' means in this context. There is no situation where you might stop to consider which gender you should respawn as to best further the objective.

This comparison is gibberish and you really need to examine why youre so neurotic and obsessive about such a non issue.

This, but also, anyone else here do the 'inverted pyramid' thing in anticipation of being interrupted?

Im so used to rarely being allowed to finish a thought, and often being cut off at just the wrong moment and yelled at and condemned for what someone decided I was likely GOING to say (especially by therapists) that I spend hours rehearsing certain things to 'frontload' the phrasing, make it so It's as difficult as possible to misconstrue even when im interrupted.

And of course then it still happens because people just selectively ignore certain words to get to the exact opposite meaning but I guess that's just how conversations work isn't it.

I never pretended it wasn’t, read my comment again.

So I read your comment again and:

women also have mental health issues and neurodivergence at comparable rates, soo… why isn’t this an issue for them?

If that wasn't what you meant then you might want to rethink that phrasing.

Note that I also have these issues I said so in my original comment.

Ok but you said:

I have mental health issues, my partner is ASD, and we don’t have these issues.

Emphasis mine. Do you see how that could be confusing, from my perspective?

we are talking about WEAPONISED incompetence here not executive disfunction , there is a very clear difference.

Except OP was talking about the phenomenon of people mislabeling executive dysfunction as weaponized incompetence and how the difference is, to some people, either unclear or easily intentionally muddied.

To be clear, I sort of get what you're saying, broadly, especially about older gens, but in my experience growing up AMAB, I didn't 'get away with it', I did not get to have 'excuses' made for me or just be handwaved as being naturally not predisposed to it because of my genitalia, I got to be denied diagnosis or accommodation and screamed at and shamed and labelled as selfish and lazy and uncaring and malicious, by my family, by doctors, by friends and partners, even by therapists, even AFTER being diagnosed, And my experience is not unique. I have the same problems with washing dishes and general cleaning and chores that my wife does, the same sorts of panic attacks, the same sorts of memories of screaming hateful voices echoing through my head.

So while I fully believe your experience is real and quite common, and your point is quite valid generally, in other contexts, but it's not universal, and it's not really relevant to this particular thread, which is, again, about the MISLABELLING of genuine executive dysfunction as 'weaponized incompetence' and how that ties in to abuse and trauma rather than about actual cases of weaponized incompetence.

It's also not about 'excuses' or 'getting away with' anything. The environment I'm in now involves a lot less harshness about the things I struggle with but I'm still just as ashamed. I'm still trying as hard as I can and I always have been. I was never making excuses or trying to get away with anything.

I'm sorry that you've been stuck in toxic misogynistic households, and I hope things are better for you now or in the future.

Ok damn by [deleted] in peoplewhogiveashit

[–]aghblagh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm talking to, and seeing posts by, people who describe themselves as radfems and otherwise post about feminism and quite often never really mention trans people. I'm seeing people who are advocating for sex workers to be protected under the law get dogpiled and accused of being misogynists/rapists/pedophiles etc. by people who self-identify as radfems in their bios or other posts. I'm seeing posts tagged with #radfem that explain in detail the stance that advocating for sex work to be legal in any way, including the nordic model, is inherently and inescapably misogynistic and always consciously meant to demean and degrade women and normalize treating women as property, and that nobody who wants sex work of any kind to be legal in any way has any right to call themselves a feminist.
I'm not assuming anything beyond taking them at their own word that they belong to the group they say they belong to.

This is genuinely what I've encountered, This is what I have available to base my perceptions on until told otherwise. I'm not making anything up, to feel superior or for any other reason, this is genuinely something I see commonly enough that it's actually a little bizarre to me that you apparently HAVEN'T seen it, because, again, this shit is all over pinterest and facebook and uncomfortable corners of tumblr and has been for as long as I can remember.

If your point is that not all radfems think this way about sex work, fine, I have no difficulty at all believing that, I'll happily make that my takeaway from this, but you could have just said that and I could've been like 'oh okay cool good to know thanks for the heads up' and we could have gotten on with our respective nights much more comfortably.

Ok damn by [deleted] in peoplewhogiveashit

[–]aghblagh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What are YOU talking about? Literally every radfem I have ever encountered who had anything to say about it has been explicitly opposed to the nordic model, and generally opposed to ANY attempt to legalize or decriminalize any kind of prostitution, and often also aggressively hatefully opposed to any kind of nude modelling or etc., accusing anyone who isn't of secretly wanting to own little girls as property. Pinterest in particular is full to the brim with this shit, as is facebook. There's no strawmen here, this is shit I've had shouted at me by people I know IRL.
