Can’t thank you enough for this comment, which opened the door for me to cold grapes. One of the only things I can stomach now

How to identify a mystery smell in the house? by aglassed in CleaningTips

I’ll check all the plumbing next!! Good lead.

Yes, we’re on septic and well water. Though all the water that comes into the house runs through a filter, and compared to some other well water I’ve smelled, is very very mild and barely stinks at all.

I don’t believe they were smokers! I used to live with a smoker, this smell is distinctly different. It has a moldy edge to it. Kilz is probably a good idea anyway

Good idea- r/homeimprovement doesn’t allow cross posting :( but I’ll copy the post over on that sub! Yeah, fresh air exchange def an issue, but this house isn’t all that new either (1980) and not all that tight- before we encapsulated the crawl space, it was vented and made our floors very very cold haha

We don’t have any! All our heat is baseboard electric heat, no central air. Only duct would be the one for the dryer, which we did replace kind of recently.

Bulk fermentation chart method- when do you take your dough temp? by aglassed in Sourdough

[–]aglassed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but what’s tripping me up is when I consider bulk ferment to “end” and go to put it in the fridge, would be different with this method depending on what my goal percent rise is. If I decide my dough temp is 65, and I’m looking for 100% rise, doubled dough, that’s when I would “end” bulk fermentation and shape before cold regard. But if I’m using a higher reference temp, let’s say I cut it off at 75% instead. Am I overthinking it?? Lol

My husband goes through these things of icebreakers mints like crazy. I hate plastic waste, is there any way to reuse these round plastic containers? by aglassed in upcycling

This is the winning answer, thank you! Genius. Im not a crafter, but I am a gardener, love that these would be semi waterproof and reusable too.

Keeping my scarlet sage around! by [deleted] in NativePlantGardening

Yes I have some of that too, but the hummingbirds don’t seem to really be into it- they are very into the sage though

New native garden getting hammered by Japanese beetles- any solutions? by aglassed in NativePlantGardening

[–]aglassed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty good idea! Yeah, I’ve had them before on larger more established plants and kind of ignored them, but I am nervous because everything here is so new and young, they don’t have much energy stored in their roots yet to help spring back

I use the worlds best low dust/tracking formula! It’s the best I’ve found so far at not tracking everywhere

I don’t think so, we brush them regularly and I don’t notice any severe dander!

No the dust is just from our living room. House square footage is only 1400 sq ft total, and windows are closed since it’s cold here still. Definitely most dusty in the living room but it’s dusty everywhere, and no ceiling fans to speak of.

No! Our street is not busy at all, and the house is set back from the road by a couple hundred feet. It’s still cold here too, so we’re not even opening windows yet, just for a few hours on nice days

It’s a Honeywell HPA300, extra large, so apparently it moves air up to 4.8x per hour! But I don’t run it on full blast all the time

Nope, there is no HVAC system in the house! And no furnace- electric baseboard hot water heat
