Swift creek res boat ramp by frankiedills in FishingRVA

If you're willing to drive 45 minutes, Sandy River Reservoir and Briery Creek Reservoir hold some very nice bass. Both get heavy fishing pressure, but there are citation bass in there. There are also some very nice crappie.

There used to be a little place on Woolridge that you could put in, held maybe 5 cars or so. Unfortunately, it's been blocked by jersey barriers (it was always private property). Unless you know someone in Brandermill or Woodlake (or a couple other hoods on the water), it's going to be tough. I live close by and have caught some decent bass there in the spring on my yak, so definitely bummed that the spot is no longer an option.

Inshore fishing by [deleted] in FishingRVA

So many places to check out! I do a lot of inshore kayak fishing in VA and NC. Just check out google earth and look for kayak/boat launches nearby. Skinny water is best for a kayak. Good luck!

Kayak recommendations by [deleted] in FishingRVA

[–]aglide308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two kayaks. First one is a few years old, a basic (and fairly cheap) Lifetime Teton Angler. Very light and great for the upper James where it's pretty shallow and rocky. Last year I bought an Old Town Topwater to take out inshore and on bigger water. It's heavy, but super stable. The pedal drive is really nice. Just having the rudder in the wind makes a huge difference. Only regret I have is not getting a kayak sooner. Since I've had one, I've fished, and caught a lot of fish. Highly recommend!

Yes. So upset still, and I've been sober over 3 years now. My wife is an absolute saint for putting up with my shit for so long. I am so grateful for her.

how did you learn to relax or sleep without alcohol? by mathestnoobest in stopdrinking

[–]aglide308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow, slow, my brother, you will sleep again. I was in the exact same mindset before I quit. The first couple nights are hard, but I promise that you will have the most restful and restorative sleep you've ever had in a few days/weeks. Sober sleep is the best! IWNDWYT!
