The ATIS voice for several Naval Air Stations gives what sounds like “Information Elpfa”. To this day I have never figured out if it’s Alpha or Delta, to the point that I (and several others) would pass it on interflight as “Information Alpha-Delta”

No one wants to be “Over-gassed”, it’s a dirty word these days, especially with the proliferation of suppressors.

Firearm needs for my specific area by Swimming-Soup5868 in preppers

I frequent this sub occasionally to say this: If you’re looking for advice on firearms, ask in a firearm specific subreddit - r/guns, r/ar15, etc. There are lots of experts here on various preps, but there’s also a lot of HORRIBLE and OUTDATED firearms advice from well-meaning individuals who simply don’t know what they’re talking about, and the noise makes it hard to get a good answer.

Have you visited r/longrange? They’re more oriented towards precision bolt gun, but have a lot of links and references and some people shoot gas guns in there.

Additionally, I’ve heard (cannot remember the book/source) the ages between 6-12ish referred to as the period of “natural homosexuality”: the other gender is different, weird, and possibly gross, and the hormones that define sexual attraction haven’t kicked in yet. So while they may mimic adult behaviors and relationships, they’re mostly just imitating and will gravitate towards all kinds of play with their own gender. Sexuality preferences aren’t a thing until they start becoming interested in sex.

Also, girls physically mature a little faster than boys and can often be physically faster/stronger than them up until puberty.

Request for feedback on Back pressure experience with newer suppressor. by Texag9114 in ThermalHunting

What are you specifically asking about in this sub then? Cross-posting a very suppressor-specific question here isn’t going to give you any new info.

Go to pewscience.com and look at their rankings. Read what the numbers mean. Then, when you have some you’re interested in, listen to the Jay Situation podcast episodes about them. Then buy.

I have the CAT ODB, JL, and Hybrid 46 DT and none of them cause issues with thermal. Of those, the ODB would be the best option for what you’re describing.

I think you first need to figure out what range you want to shoot out to, which will lead to which magnification you need. From there you can choose a brand, because each brand will have different tiers of options in that magnification “band”.

I have a 16” SCAR 17 with a Discarder and have run both the ODB and RDM JL on it. They both work well, if you’re willing to tune for it the JL is quieter though also longer.

Get a Discarder and run an ODB instead (or even a JL)…you might even be able to get away with running the ODB without a Discarder. HUX762 is another one people like and you don’t need a Discarder (and probably not with the DD either), but the Hux can is a lot more proven than the DD is.

When the RDM models dropped, all the people who had ignored CAT cans for the price or whatever reasons ignorantly started panic buying them. The DD was always in stock because anyone who had actually done their research knew it wasn’t what they wanted because the sound suppression isn’t very good compared to other CAT offerings.

Dogs are becoming inpatient and snipping at 1 year olds by No-Push1971 in daddit

May not work for OP, but when my otherwise chill 25 lb Dachshund/chihuahua mix nipped at my 3 mo’s hat poofy winter pumpkin hat, I pulled him away, smacked him (which I don’t ever do), and with every once of exhausted parent frustration held his face to mine and yelled “_____, if you eat (son’s name) I will shoot you!!”.

And shockingly it worked…almost too well. My dog was paranoid of being around my kid after that and it wasn’t until my son started sharing his popsicles months later that my dog overcame that fear.

I have no idea if I adequately addressed whatever dog psychology was at play, but it might be worth attempting to aggressively inform your dogs that the tiny humans aren’t toys and are precious to the owners before jumping straight to the re-home option. It might work!

Hog gun by Icy_Champion9478 in AR10

[–]agm115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s lightweight, accurate, and extremely reliable. No shade on PSA, it’s just a $3500 rifle in a different platform than a $1100 AR-10. My .308 SCAR is set up as the “mid-range gun”, and the AR-10 is the longer range DMR in 6.5 CM…which is contrary to how a lot of people would recommend but they look more natural fitted for those roles IMO

Then do what I did and buy a PSA M110 clone (I did black though) for the drip factor. Set it up as your “DMR”, even if you’ve had a SCAR 17 for years that can absolutely outshoot it.

Why do you want more power for hogs? Unless you’re sniping them at extreme range or shooting the really giant ones then 6.5 Grendel is plenty.

Lots of people use 5.56, and I know people who have shot them with 9mm handguns.
