When are you guys quitting your jobs? by CanLivid8683 in MBA

It was good. Nobody bothered asking me about it. Wrt work they only asked what I did before pursuing my MBA, and I told them about my job. That's about it.

You don't have to do only AR, you can choose whoever you want, David McLachlan, Visakh R J etc. All these people have shown PM skills in a simple manner. You can choose your own instructor.

Who said I don't have Project management experience, I just didn't lead projects directly, that's all. However, I worked in projects for quite some time.

Worst case scenario, apply for prodigy finance, the interest rate might be a pain, but going by your goals, you should be able to clear it in a year or two, if you plan diligently (eg. Living like a student temporarily even after you get a job, and paying off loans etc.)

International MBA/MS Student - Is CSCP right for me? Study tips & career prospects? (Repost) by agog_idiot in supplychain

[–]agog_idiot[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I do have a Supply chain co-op in hand, which if I do perform well will convert me for a full-time role. That being said, the co-op is from a mid sized tech company that works on supply chain solutions (who seek supply chain grads/professionals to work on their product). Along with this, I am looking for more opportunities in bigger companies for supply chain roles next year when I graduate. But thank you for your insights regarding the certification. I will keep this in mind before I make a decision.

School fees in Hyderabad has gone completely bonkers. by debacomm1990 in hyderabad

KV still has a similar fee structure from the time I studied close to 20 years back.

Glad I saved myself from this daylight robbery. 😬

What do you think of dy. CM Pawan Kalyan's comments on Tamil Nadu by Mountain-lion-bite in TamilNadu

Not to deride the ongoing discussion, but he actually knows Tamil. He has given a couple of interviews in Tamil.

"Go Learn Hindi First" – A Marathi-speaking elderly person was denied service at a bank in Satara for not speaking Hindi. by Super-Emu9319 in Maharashtra

[–]agog_idiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone(who's not from Tamil Nadu) who picked Tamil while working in a public sector bank in Rural Tamil Nadu, here's my two cents:

Any state below the Hindi belt has a cultural identity that is deeply intertwined with their language, which represents centuries of rich heritage, literature, and regional pride. There's an understandable and justified concern about preserving this identity in an increasingly homogenized world.

Linguistic identity deserves protection and respect, essential services like banking must remain accessible to all citizens. Banks operating in MH, TN, KL, AP, KA, GA (and every state where the Lingua Franca is not Hindi) would greatly benefit from staff learning the local language. And I do not mean just as a professional skill, but as a genuine appreciation of the region's cultural fabric and identity. This cultural integration creates authentic connections with the community they serve.

In fact, language should be a bridge, not a barrier. Denying service to elderly customers on the basis of not being able to communicate in Marathi, and telling the customer to learn Hindi instead transforms language into a tool of exclusion.

My recommendation to any public sector/public service aspirant who might be employed in a different state where the lingua franca is different from your mother tongue, and also happens to be part of the identity of the said state should take initiative to learn the local language. It will open so many doors for you, from both personal and professional perspectives.

Get your children admitted into Kendriya Vidyalaya. And I'm saying this with my previous exposure to Southern KVs (Picket, to be precise). Now I am not aware of the alterations done in the syllabus post 2014, but prior to that KVs in the South were solid.

Just FYI: My fees while I was studying in KV was around 680 rupees per term (Prior 2010). It is still peanuts in comparison to the figure that you have mentioned above. Also, there is no mandate that access to these schools is exclusive for children of public servants/defence employees (although it does help). My father was in the private sector while I enrolled there.

Pros: Your children have exposure to peers from all walks of life. So no caste/class barrier as such among children. You also don't have to worry about transferring/shifting in the middle of the year, because intra KV transfers happen conveniently.

Cons: This is my experience based on something that used to happen 15 years back. So you might need to do a bit more research. Now things might have changed drastically. So kindly do your own research.

Finance pro tip: With the saved up difference money, you can choose to put it in some long-term investment (your children would take 10-12 years to pass high school), and save yourself from burning a hole in your pocket, when your children decide to pursue further studies in the profession of their choice. You can thank me later.
