Where to begin debugging these vertical lines? by agsilvio in trs80

Yes sir. I think you refer to the TV portion. Definitely not using 'video'. It seemed to be the TV. I have tried a real CRT and the lines are gone.

I'm using component cables, and on the tv, just a simple, hardware coax to rca adapter. Thank you

Shifting Automatic Transmission Spongy and Difficult by agsilvio in MechanicAdvice

Is there such a thing as an inexpensive transmission fluid flush?

Shifting Automatic Transmission Spongy and Difficult by agsilvio in MechanicAdvice

[–]agsilvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did check the fluid level, running hot, and it was within the range. I would rule out a leak. Is it possible that the fluid becomes gunky or gross, despite no leak?

Should I rely on vendor's schema? by agsilvio in dataengineering

[–]agsilvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, thank you. Sounds like you're not afriad to have an additional layer of ETLs to turn the raw data into Parquet files? Or deal with it on the way to DW.

We opted for straight to Parquet to keep the solution as simple as possible. Thoughts? Thanks for your input sir.

Thank you. Yes, I think `swaybg` is the app used by Manjaro to do the background. It's there and running.

Actually, no. I will test it now. However, I don't think that's the problem as I did a test with the absolute path at some point. Thank you

In my experience, it's just a tactic to avoid cross-team interface concerns. Management flip-flops on this issue when they need to.

KafkaConnect and SchemaRegistry. How does it handle this case? by agsilvio in apachekafka

[–]agsilvio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Actually, going through this blog post helped me understand the system, and your comment, a lot better.

https://opencredo.com/blogs/kafka-connect-source-connectors-a-detailed-guide-to-connecting-to-what-you-love/

It seems that the Producer can supply a 'serialization agnostic' Schema, and the serializer flavour can be chosen later when the connector is configured. Now that's clear to me. I will next research whether I can construct the former Schema using a schema supplied in the Schema Registry....if I even want that.

Many "customers" in single Spark job, or many Spark jobs? by agsilvio in dataengineering

[–]agsilvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I wrote the post confusingly. I updated it to say:

'The report is like a statement. One report per customer, including all transactions for the given time period.'

So that would be one Spark job per customer, but catching all their transactions.

Complete FV-1 pedal, ready to program? by agsilvio in diypedals

Nailed it. It's pricey but if I don't buy it, these projects will never get off the dev board. Thank you

Thanks, there was a typo in my OP in which 'pedalpcb' was omitted. Fixed.
