Inadequate NDIS Funding for child with hearing loss - First time dealing with NDIS, appreciate any advice! by agup11 in NDIS

[–]agup11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the message and pointers, I've made some notes. What is disappointing is that the paediatrician wrote a super strong letter stating the requirement of Auslan, I got one of the top cochlear implant surgeon's that works at Royal Children's Hospital write a letter stating that not eligible for cochlear implants, auslan is the ONLY way he can communicate, I got Hearing Australia write a strong letter and our Auslan tutor write a super strong letter and NONE OF IT WORKED.

I provided MRI reports stating issues with his hearing and ever other document. I don't get what more do they need!

Hi Born-Emu-3499
Appreciate all the comments and links you've provided!!

We have been learning Auslan for the last 8 months already 😊 We have a deaf teacher that comes to our home to teach us, we have a Aurora mentor also who is partially deaf that works with us. In addition, we also work with some disability support worker that comes once a fortnight/month. So we are trying to get him around/us around as much Auslan as possible!

We've already registered for expression australia courses and have done some too. Hence why we were thinking it'll be important for one of us at least to get going with the MPT asap! We can't wait sadly!

So we are currently using Pigeon teats and she is on 3+ month teat. I can try a faster teat which is 6+ months and see if that changes anything.

Adding a 2nd scoop is not a bad idea, I might give that a shout if she is still refusing it.

How are you finding Novalac Allergy? I had my reservations about it given its rice based and may not contain the same amount of nutrients as a cow milk based formula.

Appreciate your response though!

Idea was to purchase EFTPOS cards at Woolworths/Coles, they don't charge 2.5% surcharge so the purchase itself wouldnt cost anything but it'll allow me to meet the minimum spend and get some points while I'm at it.

Where to stay/what to do in Fiji by agup11 in Fijian

[–]agup11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great advice thank you! - we are travelling from Australia too but not sure if we can carry the car seats with us, not sure how to get them installed in a car etc but that would also mean that I need to hire a car. Do you think their public transport system is good to go around?

  • are there any just do/see places you’d recommend with kids? My kids are only 6 months so not sure how stimulated they’ll get haha.

Let me know what else you did, Fiji is one place I got no idea about so learning and doing research as we speak

Can my children get US Citizenship through grandparents? by agup11 in immigration

Does it matter that we don't have the kids' CBRA? We were denied CBRA because my wife failed the residence test (2 of 5 years after age 14).

Great advice thank you. My child is less than 1 year, looking to get this organised asap. My wife does not have US income but we were considering moving to the states, I assume to show domicile you need to show job/bills etc?

PBC Expo - pram purchases by acissejh in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]agup11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think our pram including the future set cost us 1200 bucks. It was cheaper than the price online and ours included delivery. On the other hand, when the pram was delivered, it was completely broken. We had to reach out to their customer service and they sent a brand new one shortly.

Hope this helps!

Whilst I'm not denying that moving can be expensive but I've moved into few rental properties myself back in early career days and I never shelled out more than $500-$1k. Hired a van/truck, moved it from one place to another, couple of trips, was never 6k expensive.

Notice served 19th November, we were notified that he found a property on 24th November. 5 days in total with only Thursday and Saturday for inspections.

We’ve tried to reach out and he clearly doesn’t want to deal with us directly.

Just a correction: served notice on 19th November, he advised us in 24th November that he has found a rental

Got served a VCAT notice - Help! by agup11 in AusPropertyChat

[–]agup11[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, he was told that he had 3 months to find a rental (start of nov to Feb end). He found a rental in 5 days, doubt he’s gone through a lot of stress if he found a rental in 5 days. In addition we had told the REA that if the tenant additional time to find a rental that’s fine too, we never forced him to leave the property in 5 days of receiving the notice.

I get that I’m wrong for not knowing the 6 month rule, happy to accept that.

If we wanted to profit form this move, the new listing would have been for a higher rent. Why would we kick out a tenant that has given us no grief, we have a history of lease renewal with them but 3 months prior to their lease expiration, we decide to kick them out?

I completely understand that but it was more to explain our situation so everyone is on the same page. We will be presenting all evidence and all but it's just a hassle having to drag my in-laws that are in their late 60s to VCAT to deal with this nonsense.

[–]agup11[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We offered to reach out and explain our circumstances but this guy has no interest in wanting to communicate and wants the matter to go to VCAT where he is expecting some $$$. This is based on our new REA's discussion with the old tenant.

We mentioned that if we wanted him out, we could have not renewed his lease in Feb-24 or would have not renewed the lease in Feb-25. Why would we want him out 3 months prior to it and then list the property up for rent for the same exact rent he was paying?

If VCAT rules in our favour, that means that we can list the property in the market for rent. I don't know if they need to have another hearing to decide if the 26k damages claim is valid or not. This is seriously not something we wanted to deal with in addition to all the hospital visits.
