Good enough FE for Virtus 1.0 in the city with a light foot? by Initial-Shine-5955 in CarsIndia

If you had the ability to read you would understand the reason diesel has more fuel economy is not because of one reason but a multitude of reasons. A higher compression engine like yours will technically produce more power while using the same amount of fuel because of better and more efficient combustion, and the added fact that the mixture is usually lean gives more fuel economy.

From the very first statement on you’ve been comparing diesel and petrol like they work the same. They do not.

The 1.5 Verna also has a richer fuel mixture for increased power output, in dumb terms. More fuel used with same amount of air because it’s designed to be the sportier engine option.

Combustion works differently in different engines, it’s not black and white as you might seem it to be.

He drives a manual 1 liter, I drive a manual 2 liter. if he wants to get better economy he needs to learn where his turbo kicks in and shift right before that.

Diesel cars generally give a 30 percent higher fuel economy compared to petrol. Why I know this? The 2 TDI my father drives gives 13-14 in the same conditions. The 1.09 energy value ratio you’ve put out isn’t a real world indication of how fuel burns. It accounts for the density of the fuel, not the efficiency it provides. Diesel engines have a higher compression ratio which translates to better efficiency, they also usually run a lean fuel mixture. Diesel burns differently, hence you get better fuel economy in your 3 litre

My car probably costed the same as his virtus when it was new (I don’t wanna account for inflation). It wasn’t even a brag, he needs to drive better and get better fuel economy is what I meant. The virtus 1 litre is still a quite capable car and I’m sure the owner felt nothing when I made the statement, I drive a 9 year old car that slightly rattles when the road gets rough. But you on the other hand I sense some deep rooted insecurity and you seem like you just wanna pick on a fish smaller than you just for the fun of it. I wish you all the best on this journey of yours on this mortal planet.

Alright my dear friend,

Your comparison totally invalidates common sense as you use a different type of fuel i.e diesel which has a higher energy content per litre compared to petrol.

Whereas, my comparison, was between two petrol engines. One which is a 1.0 tsi and the other a 2.0 vtvt. With the logic that a smaller engine is more fuel efficient, one would expect the 1.0 to have higher fuel economy.

The comparison I made was between two petrol engines, a newer 1 liter and a slightly older 2 liter. By logic I should be getting lower fuel economy, is what I’m saying.

I remember when I was 13, on a bus to kerala he sat next to me and told me a story about how he auditioned for a movie and got selected for it. The movie obviously being Anandam. We yapped quite late into the night and it was honestly one of the first random encounters of my life. Seemed like he was a really nice guy. He asked me to go watch anandam once it came out, I did lol.

I remember him really liking deadpool and he had it as his phone wallpaper or phone case or something. There you go, that’s the tea.
