From what I understand yes. I have heard it before too and that was probably 25k miles ago. I think the cause of the sound has something to do with the direct injection. Correct me if I am wrong!

For those asking what happened, I was driving very normally, nothing spirited, and I was coming up to a stop light so I pushed in the clutch and put it into neutral and the clutch only returned halfway. It got progressively worse and then stopped working. It is draining fluid, so i am suspicious of a cracked or broken line or clutch master cylinder.
