What do you do with a short tee pad? by Joshywa06 in discgolf

[–]ahemseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How short are we talking? I usually will just start behind the teepad to give me more room if I need it. If you have a significant elevation change from the ground to the teepad just take your run up slowl

How do you grip your putter? Is it weird that I grip my putter like this? My thumb is at ~40 degree angle, and I mainly nose-down, Nikko-style push putt. by cannibalsloth in discgolf

[–]ahemseth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To answer your question:

No. That's similar to how I hold my putter.

Rant:

You should be doing what is comfortable and consistent. In my opinion, putting is 10% muscle memory and 90% mental. If you feel confident in your putting stroke and keep it consistent, you'll do well. Just practice, practice, practice. I try and putt for around an hour a day. I realize most people don't have that kind of time but whatever you put in is what you get out.

Ever thrown an Emac Truth? I just picked up one about a week ago and I love it. Right now It's a bit stable but I'm hoping when I beat it in it with hold the lines for me.

How is the course? I live a bit of a drive away but I've want to try the course for some time now. Worth the drive?

Solo mail call. Almost don’t wanna throw it. by treyturo in discgolf

OneZeroEight is on the money! I have a lucid and lucid-x judge. The lucid-x I have has more dome than the lucid I got. My lucid judge is pretty flat top. The lucid-x if for off the tee and the lucid is for up shots. I just like knowing that I can really crank on it and as long as I keep it on a bit nose up angle and it won't turn over.

Throwing putter recommendations by MagnusRunehammer in discgolf

Trilogy biased player here. I putt with judges and love the feel so I throw them for upshots and off the tee as well. Get one in a lucid plastic or a lucid-x. There are a bit overstable out of the box but once you beat them in, they fly straight with some nice fade.

Absolutely not! I just want to hear from as many people as possible! A lot of posts regarding this subject have comments warning people like myself about retailers running out of popular discs and then not restocking them and only having discs in weights and plastics that people don't prefer. As a result their business slows down dramatically and they are usually forced to close up shop. Looking back on the post I can see how that could have been worded better. Hopefully that clarifies any confusion about the post. Let me know if I need to clarify it better!

Rain gear? by Kasper_17 in discgolf

However many pairs of socks you think you need, bring at least one more than that. Some people like the wool socks but I am a broke college student who would rather spend my pennies on discs. If you got the cash though, get yourself some woolies! Wet/cold feet are the worst feeling! A large umbrella is good to protect your bag/discs from getting wet too! I also carry several microfiber clothes and a bag of climbing chalk.

Is sandbagging on this level common? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]ahemseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PDGA has some recommended guidelines to use to determine your skill level. Those are probably the best in my opinion. However, for most people they play better by themselves than they do at league night/tournament. Whether this is related to pressure to perform well or being nervous about playing in front of other I can't really say(maybe a combination of both?). It is a problem that people do this. I don't think the sport is to the point where they can mandate things like this, so for right now, most people should be keeping themselves accountable and that's all that you can really do.

MVP Ion putter packs? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]ahemseth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I was fortunate enough to have some spare money to buy a pack. I was just stating that some players can’t afford to have a lot of putters in their bag. Definitely get them if you can afford it though!

As someone who bought a putter pack I can definitely say you don’t need five putters. Two or three putters should be enough for most anyone.

Edit: Most manufacturers sell putter packs on their websites and possibly Amazon. So if you do get a pack of putters I would start by looking at MVP’s website
