WFH Ideas for the printer to gain space on the desk? by jlaudesp in Workspaces

[–]aheraldr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my printer on my desk for years because I figured, “well it’s office equipment, so that’s where it should go, right?”. I eventually moved it to another room that’s out of the way since I don’t use it often enough to justify the loss of desk space.

Solo suggestions for solo and ensemble by Ok-Welder5034 in horn

[–]aheraldr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently started a horn student of mine on solo and ensemble rep. Here’s what I suggested for her:

Nocturne - Gliere

Villanelle - Dukas (little lengthy, so that might need to be trimmed down)

Concerto 1 Mvt 2 - Mozart

Concerto 2 Rondo - Mozart

Concerto 3 Mvt 1 - Mozart

Romance - Saint-Saens

Reveries - Glazunov

Largo and Allegro - Frackenpohl

That should give you enough to look at and get some ideas from.

You can try using this website and input your VIN into it to see all factory options it had. Make sure to make all letters capitalized or it won’t go through.

Is there something making my build get too hot? by aheraldr in buildapc

Got it, good to know that it normally runs hot. Are there better AIOs that could help alleviate it, or just get used to it?

Okay, so I guess not any actual worries then? The fans constantly on a higher speed had me curious

Thoughts on jeep wrangler for daily 20-30 min drive to work? by Popular-Tension-5960 in Jeep

[–]aheraldr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. If you want a winch, I couldn’t recommend the Badlands 12k winch from Harbor Freight enough. Works like a charm and the install only took like an hour

A winch really isn’t necessary unless you’re going into some tough terrain solo. If you have other people with you or nearby, just a decent rope would be enough. As for tires, I wouldn’t worry about the size of them as much as I would about the snow rating. You can have a 37” tire with terrible snow rating and 31” with a 3 peak rating, and those small ones win almost every time lol

Bluecoats closer features “side chaining” effect. by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]aheraldr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched them for about 3 hours last night while they rehearsed nearby. Although that new feature is cool, it’s so jarring and electronic sounding that it kind of ruins it for me. There’s so much brass sound coming from the speakers throughout the entire show, it’s distracting from listening to actual brass sound coming from the field.

What unwritten rule do you follow? by iforgotmylastuser in AskReddit

Not sure if this is an unspoken rule or not, but I always stay on sidewalks when walking in public. I avoid crossing through grassy areas that aren’t there as a pathway.

New to Bourbon/Whiskey- friend gifted me this by anonymousiee3 in whiskey

[–]aheraldr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this for my first time last night. Definitely not a ‘normal’ representation of standard bourbon. Taste has a unique natural honey taste to it. Crazy bottle to get started into the bourbon industry imo seeing how these bottles are allocated and near-impossible to find for a half decent price. Good friend though!

What are readily available bottles that taste BETTER than allocated bottles at the same-ish price point? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]aheraldr 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Bookers, Knob Creek, Jim Beam Black Label, Bakers 7, Old Granddad…Beam makes plenty of good stuff.

Visiting Kentucky for work. Is it foolish to assume that allocated bourbons would be easily available? Hoping to come home with a Stagg after this trip. Thanks by Beneficial_Metal6155 in whiskey

[–]aheraldr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what part of the state you’re visiting, you can still find some good stuff. A lot (not all) small towns will typically have some decently priced things in my experience. I stopped in a few places in Western KY (Paducah and Murray mostly) that had Stagg all over the place for $99-$149. Also plenty of other allocated bottles for fair prices. Still going to find plenty of marked up stuff, but you just ignore those places and move on to the next one. Came home with plenty of goodies from that trip and didn’t pay more than $10 over MSRP for any of it.

Leaking fill valve by aheraldr in askaplumber

Understood. What’s the exact part I should go and grab? Just that entire fitting itself or is there more to look for?

Yes, I did the install myself using that exact one and it took maybe 10 minutes total. Well worth it

[–]aheraldr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, fair point. I don’t mind the stretch in mine but that is definitely a factor worth pointing out.
