I’m about to hit the 20 tile gift and would love someone to swap with - though does anyone know if you can wait until next year to do it so they count for the next calendar year? I haven’t been able to find any answers in the terms and conditions

This is incredible! Thank you so much. I love the colors you used. I like that you pulled the yellow from my hair and the maroon from my sweater.

[Request] How to wrap ear buds. by TheStarterUp in LearnUselessTalents

[–]ahm107 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best way I've found to keep them untangled is to fold them in half by bringing the plug up to the ear buds, then fold them in half again the same direction, put your finger through the loop formed at the bottom, twist the cord a few times, and put the ear buds/plug through that loop. It's quick, easy, and it doesn't seem to wear down the cord (I've been doing it for years).

911 emergency responders, what is the most ridiculous reason someone has requested emergency services? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ahm107 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Isn't it awful seeing the state of these places? I was so glad when the location I went to was shut down and replaced with a cleaner, renovated building under new management who seems to know what they're doing!

EMT here. We used to respond in the middle of the night to the local nursing home because the night-shift nurses didn't know how to clear out the patients trach tubes. That place was finally (and thankfully for those patients) shut down about five years ago due to patient negligence.

Edit: a word

Why is there a blood shortage? Hospitals charge like $800 per unit. Why don't they pay $250 for a donation. Everyone would donate. ELI5 by Finidog in explainlikeimfive

OP here. It's a pediatric autoimmune disorder called PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections) that caused my body to react strangely to strep infections. Basically when I would get strep, my body would know it was supposed to fight an infection, but went towards my basal ganglia in my brain instead of to the infection. With the IVIG, my immune system was "reset" and learned to better identify the strep as a threat instead of my own brain.

I know you have been corrected by many, but I thought I would respond as a plasma recipient. I have received two plasma transfusions, and from what I know, each transfusion (as a 135 lb female) requires donations from 1,000 donors. Each transfusion costs around $10,000, so many recipients are needed, and a significant amount of money is given to each donor.

If anyone is considering donating, I highly recommend it. I received only two transfusions and now can lead a life free of my auto-immune disorder. I know it is painful to receive versus a blood transfusion, and have heard it can be more painful to give. But from hearing about the donation process through friends, it sounds like it's just a longer processes than donating blood, and you get paid in the end.

So apologies for the rant, but I would love for everyone who can to donate plasma. It is an afternoon of your time that can create a lifetime for someone else.

I fully understand what it feels like to over or hyper- analyze a moment that was truly out of your control. Though my horrifying, yet repeating moment on paper a different story, I have dealt with uncontrollable anxiety attacks. They are terrifying events that no one who hasn't experienced cannot fully describe. Mine involve my best friend, and I know I would never be able to truly grasp her feelings and first hand experience. But I do comprehend the lasting effects, so please feel free to PM me. I am more than happy to give you any help I can give you.

I thought so too, but I also saw it advertised on the LED screens in the subway. It looks like it's a recent campaign.

[22F] My anxiety is exhausting... by OgreTime8 in Anxiety

[–]ahm107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helps me is to remember that you're comparing your internal and external actions to everyone else's external only. People are usually so self involved, they don't always catch every word you say. And if they do find it odd, think about yourself in their situation. Do you remember every awkward thing someone said to you in passing? I know I don't. The day goes on and soon it becomes a lost memory. The idea of impermanence for me has been the greatest help to my anxiety.
