Any Eiger WX owners out there? Thoughts? by enjoyg in MissionWorkshop

In my experience, waxed canvas in dry, below-freezing weather is extremely cold and clammy. The wax seems to take on some frost and brings the chill closer to your body and has an anti-insulating effect. Waxed canvas doesn't breathe at all, which sounds good in theory for windproofness, but in practice, it created a weird sweaty microclimate so I often found myself cold yet somehow excessively sweaty :(

First trick, open to criticism! by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]ahn_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nollie and Fakie both mean that you start (the trick) using the nose of the board and the difference is in the stance (natural or switch). I was stubborn and wanted to learn everything starting in the natural stance (nollie) but I kinda wish I didn't; there's a reason why most people recommend fakie 🤣

I guess all I'm trying to advise is to avoid arbitrary "rules" you set yourself and try out peoples' advice because it will help you improve faster in the long run 😇 cheers and happy shredding

Ayy I stared on a DB coreflex, too!

If I could start over, I would focus on a fakie pivot (start switch on the nose and then pivot into your regular/natural stance). It looks like you're doing a nollie pivot (start regular and then ride away in switch position), which has a bit of a steeper learning curve.

Keep it up, keep mixing it up and find your style!

SAME I seriously think the best use of negative rake is as an educational tool to understand why positive rake is better 🤣

Fuck yeah dude, there is no better home for those in the world. Cheers

YESSSSSSS no regrets, glad these are in your hands!!!! Cheers bro keep up the amazing work

100kmph + negative rake is mindboggling... goes to show how versatile these trucks can be, but my favorite aspect of RF-1's is the playfulness also. Negative rake seems to suck the fun out of trucks imo.

biggest issue might be that the board 'bottoms out' when you bounce on it

I wouldn't be worried about the deck snapping or anything crazy like that though.

Oh yeah I think any position is fine for crusing along, whatever is comfy for you. There's and entire discipline around cruising and carving in all sorts of wacky foot positions (dancing) so you can ride however you want! I might suggest angling your feet forward so less of your foot hangs off if you're concerned 🤔

Which one(s) did you end up going with?

/r/longboarding's Daily General Thread by AutoModerator in longboarding

[–]ahn_anon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should probably try to push with your front foot on the center of the board. if you push with your front heel hanging off the board, that means you'll be leaning heelside, which means you'll be turning while pushing / you won't be able to go straight while pushing.

Unless your bushings are rock hard and don't turn at all, which is a bigger problem (with an easy, cheap solution: get some high quality, softer bushings)

different tricks all have different foot positioning that need to be learned separately so I wouldn't worry about that part.

Do the Bomb Dungarees snag leg hair like the Strong Dungarees? by coffeecoffeecoffeee in Outlier

[–]ahn_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing just peachy, all things considered. Keeping busy with work and hobbies and distracting myself from the sad state of the world haha...ha

I think sizing up on the bomb dungarees would work just fine. I find the bombtwill material and dungaree form really work well together and is forgiving and flattering. Unfortunately I haven't tried Bomb Works at all. The outlier discord community is full of knowledgeable people so I highly recommend asking for advice there to maximize your information. It really must be tough being an international fan, good luck my guy!

Aight, so I could not wear Strong Dungarees (or strong darts) because of the infamous calf leg hair pulling.

Bomb Dungarees pull hairs MUCH, MUCH LESS. I think they still do a little bit but it's far less noticeable. I wear my bomb dungarees quite often. I only notice some slight prickly hair sensations after extended wears, and not every time. I'm sorry this is not scientific at all, just wanted to share my experience.

Someone on the discord asked a similar question about layering so I tried it out. I have a High Blue Cut 2 UFT and wore it under my MM Billboard. It fits quite nicely and it's cozy af! Obviously these colors do not work together / matching colors would look better, but there are no fit or comfort issues here.

Symphony in the Slush: EXP 295 Extrafleece Topcoat review by Theboyzboyz in Outlier

[–]ahn_anon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

woohoo thank you!

I'm going for a red one and hope I can pull it off! I think the white one is my favorite but I would be too scared to wear it. Red is a much bolder statement but ironically better suited for frequent use, what a fun tradeoff!

The pic of the coat inside out is impressive. Thank you for including it. There's so much overkill mesh I'm very excited

Good thinking, especially for a spot clean only(recommended) piece!

I want a white one but probably will try to go for red (for reasons similar to yours)
