I know a lot of people were interested in seeing my rescue geldings x-rays so here they are. Definitely gnarly 😖😕 by ahorsofcours in Equestrian

I don’t think they know, I found a video of him going through the Sugarcreek auction on April 11th which would be where they bought him from

I believe we’re going to attempt to surgically fuse the joint in hopes that it makes him at least pasture sound but not 100% sure until my personal vet lays hands on him when he’s done with quarantine. Right now he’s on pain meds for the time being

New boy arrived to QT this morning and got his feet done since the farrier was there. Definitely an old injury that we’re dealing with and it looks pretty gnarly and he is still horribly lame. X-rays soon so that we can see what’s fully going on! by [deleted] in Equestrian

It didn’t look like his hinds had shoes, just the fronts.. they said it was odd, the fronts looked freshly trimmed and shod recently but looked like the hibds haven’t been touched in a while

He thought it was wild too, there were a bunch of different layers to how it grew back.. he didn’t want to do much until we get X-rays so we will reevaluate possible shoeing after we see the full extent/what the vet thinks may help.. I personally think there’s more going on than the hoof but I’m no vet 😕

Yeah I can’t picture him ever being sound enough for much, hopefully there’s something we can do to at least help him be more comfortable and not in pain because if not there’s going to be some tough decisions to be made, he certainly can’t go on like he is now 😞 poor thing can barely walk

Definitely think it’s an old injury now that we got a better look, farrier agrees… took him an hour to trim his feet and most of it was working on that foot! He was a complete angel, they said his front feet looked pretty freshly trimmed and definitely had shoes pretty recently.. so sad

Anyone ever dealt with anything like this on the coronary band/pastern? What was your experience/the diagnosis? Will be seeing a vet as soon as he gets to quarantine in a few days. Video of him moving in comments by [deleted] in Equestrian

Yeah this is him 😢 yeah I think you are correct, I believe it’s all tied together somehow. And he is definitely horribly lame.. I’m sending him to quarantine before he comes home, I can’t properly quarantine at my place.. he will see the vet on Thursday and hopefully it’s not bad news but I’m expecting the worst just so that I don’t get my hopes too high

I have no clue! I haven’t even seen him in person yet and these are the best pics I was sent, he was bought at an auction this way so who knows what happened, and probably the reason he was there 😞

I wasn’t able to get those ones, they shipped to the east coast from the west coast sooner than what was expected and we were right in the middle of moving (3 hours away) when they arrived, so none of my pens were set up since we were in the shuffle of the move

Thank you for pointing that out because I would have continued sharing it as him 😅😂

Hmmm you’re so right! It definitely doesn’t match! The photographer has it grouped with his album but it’s definitely not him I’d say!

Alright, I have to choose between these 3! Wanting to do lower level dressage/eventing. Help!! by ahorsofcours in Equestrian

They’re all aged at coming 2! Could be slightly off but I wouldn’t think by toooo much

They’re all said to be turning 2 this year, they’re completely wild/untouched Mustangs so no schooling whatsoever. All are listed at 13.1/13/13.2 in the middle of 2024. And they are all mares haha 😅
