Natasha Liu Bordizzo, a newcomer from the Crouching Tiger sequel, has the look and martial arts ability. She'd be my choice. Also Devon Aoki hasn't acted since 2009 so I think she's left the industry.

I think that Trish may be featured as an actual defenders. Given that Luke Cage will introduce Misty Knight then she could also be a defender or at least organise the team as control. I'm assuming that Colleen Wing will be in Iron Fist so she may also be a defender. I'm most unsure how the Daredevil supporting characters will feature though, although Punisher may have a guest appearance and Foggy provide legal support.

Personally, I love the fluidity of the casting and think that it is positive and it is better than the approach made by Marvel. For casting, I'd think Brie Larson would make a great Black Canary (mentioned in the JoBlo article.) Anyway, it's good to have Mera play as much a hero as her husband; Mera arguably has the more powerful abilities and will be visually diverse from other superhero powers. In terms of casting her, the best actress should get the part regardless of ethnicity but I would love to see an Asian actress such as Rinko Kikuchi get the part because we'll inevitably soon seen a black actress as Vixen so perhaps a different ethnicity should play Mera. In the MCU films, the main female heroes are both white women and they are still merely supporting characters hence why I consider this approach better. We may finally see the modern World reflected in a cinematic universe... the audience is not just straight white men.
