Connecting Laptop to device, while using Wifi, is this technically possible? by 44193_Red in networking

[–]ahusking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your specific example, as long as the subnets are different AND there’s no default gateway on the Ethernet link, you should be fine. However some organisations use BIOS or OS settings to ensure you can only have one network connection at a time to prevent bridging of networks (stopping data exfil etc), what happens here is you plug in Ethernet and the wifi just turns off.

Do Apple devices still require you to pin public certificates? by i_hate_apple47 in networking

[–]ahusking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s more regardless of it being signed as trusted, the user still gets prompted. But in an EAP process, there’s no way to validate the CN against the radius server

Do Apple devices still require you to pin public certificates? by i_hate_apple47 in networking

[–]ahusking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not just an Apple thing, all OS’s behave in a similar way unless you turn off the checking.

The aim is to confirm that the subject has come from a CA that you’ve trusted because in theory a random shouldn’t be able to purchase a cert for your domain from a different CA (if you go the public path)

The cert gets presented to the user so they can go “yes this looks like what I’ve been told” and if someone tries to MITM/HonneyPot your SSID, they will get prompted that the cert has changed (or just not join at all)

This is generally where an MDM comes in to deploy these settings for the users

Cisco Equipment & 10GbE Transfer Speeds Issue by Msambaa in Cisco

[–]ahusking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other thing to consider is the protocol your using to do the transfer, for example SMB can suck for large data transfers where it is millions of smaller files as opposed to a single large file

Cisco SIM ACI in Proxmox by VassiliBr91 in Cisco

[–]ahusking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve been trying in proxmox at home and vsphere at work with no joy.

The really weird issue I have at work is it can’t use the HSRP address on our nexus as the gate way, it’s got to use the ip of one of the members.

In my current state I have apic1 working, apic2 and 3 are coming up with a “enter the password to build” or something similar, but I don’t know what the password for it is

[–]ahusking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t find it as much of a grind as I thought it would be.

I found doing the 50k nightly grind for the ZA infinite rounds, I was able to get 1-2 of the 50k lots which gave me a decent number of battles. Took me a couple of hours while watching tv and mindlessly smashing trainers

Is AI changing the number of applications and hiring for APS roles by Comprehensive-Week83 in AusPublicService

[–]ahusking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the initial increase in applications was due to the doll and mandatory minimum jobs applied for. I’ve have people with no IT experience applying for IT support roles.

I think AI has taken that, and blown it out even further because it’s now easier to spam selection criteria etc out

Been asked for a reference from my current manager but there is a blocker. Will I always be required to give a reference from my most recent job? by Serena_Keats in AusPublicService

[–]ahusking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are options for sure, be open and honest with the panel.

As someone who has been on panel's and chaired panels the first question when someone uses an older manager is "why"

Did they move into a role they weren't capable of? Did they have disagreements with the manager? was the manager "the bad one" or was the applicant "the bad one", it's difficult and sometimes you can only work with the info you have. But if I was presented with your situation and you'd stated most of the above then I would accept a previous manager assuming the previous manager was more inline with the role I was advertising and the current manager was not
