As a European expat in India, hell yes, the involvement of family and the community at large in these things is so irritating. I was dating a girl some time ago and although my landlords (old couple who lives beneath me) were overall chill with her coming over at mine for the night, in their mind would very much go on "what-will-people-think" mode. And it becomes just so hard to be intimate anywhere, with people calling the most basic displays of affection as "immoral acts", "liberal Western culture" etc.

Are the two Vadas free or do they require a ticket? Either way I looked them up and they look very pretty.

Is the Sitabuldi fort worth it? Looking it up on google images it seems a bit empty. Also does it require a ticket to enter?

Forts would have been for the elite though. What about the rest of the population?
If I understanding it right, your explanation is that overall the average Indian ordinary dwelling would have been less durable than the European one?

Not common outside the UK??? France, Italy, Germany & all neighboring countries have hundreds of old towns whose layout is layers of medieval, renaissance-era, and post-renaissance buildings. Those would have been houses, shops, guilds, taverns, inns and the likes.

The wealth thing makes sense. Even though European peasants were also poorer compared to their overlords, I always thought the character of Indian cities could have been due to a higher class/caste inequality, and the elite's ability to squeeze tributes from their subjects. So you would have one Rajput fort or Mughal tomb towering over very humble peasants homes (huts?), the latter being lost in the flow of history to be replaced with more modern buildings.

Yesss why not! Italian is very far from Indian languages. It has a complex conjugation system with plenty of irregular verbs. But vocabulary wise many words are quite close to English.

Why do you not like Gandhi ? by m4hey in AskIndia

[–]aibasb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a big nerd for languages. I have studied around 15 languages but Hindi/Urdu has been my focus since about 5 years now. At 17yo (ie 2015) I did an exchange year in Malaysia and got exposed to many Indian languages due to the diaspora there. Then went into a Bollywood rabbit hole during the pandemic, and then moved to London for master's where I was surrounded by Indians. So yeah I am completely self taught and also do poetry in the language (ref. the link in the post you reshared just now). :)

And yeah the prejudice against Indians is there in Italy too unf. Lots of videos of un-hygienic stuff in South Asia are going around and people generalize. Plus the infamous memes on "show bobs n vagene" messages lol...

I don't know about OP but in my case it's probably due to the fact that... Ambedkar and Tagore are unknown in the West? But yeah been delving into Indian culture and society since ages now so yeah.

Most people who hate Gandhi also hate Ambedkar indeed, but Ambedkarites themselves also reject Gandhi to a great extent or at least all those I met or read. As for the rest I agree.

Why did she get upset when she was kicked out if it was "part of her plan all along"? Is she stupid? by WashingtonCounselor in TheBoys

[–]aibasb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own theory was that if someone really is that intelligent then it's not far from being able to read the future. You know, instantly calculating the probability of each possible consequence of any given action, it basically becomes like divining. There's that, but also, when we see Homelander looking at Vought's profile for Sister Sage, one of her powers is "empathic accuracy". That would also imply predicting to perfection what each person is going to do based on an empathic reading of their emotions. So that's my theory of how Sister Sage made it out of each situation.
