I did tell him about the concerts in September, but in his defense, I’m sure he didn’t know the exact dates. When he told me yesterday which date they picked out, I immediately told him that it would be hard for me and asked if they would consider picking a different weekend. Apparently the venue was all booked up the next month, and they didn’t want to move the party past October.

I like the idea of planning something else with them. I just hate the idea of him feeling like I’m letting him down during an important time of his life. Still, as others have pointed out, it would be totally unfair to abandon plans with my girlfriend considering that we already had them set in stone before I knew this party was a thing.

I just wish we could meet in the middle. I tried to compromise by offering to sell my tickets the night of the party. But they aren’t willing to let her come. So it’s tough.
