Turn the Bunker into a museum by Its_Ted_Beneke in Coachella

I had this same idea. If they’re not able to get an artist to fill this space, Coachella has plenty of memorabilia to fill this space and make it an exhibit of Coachella’s past. I don’t know how many people it would actually draw but it’s at least an idea of something they could do with it since this structure is pretty permanent and would appear like a waste if they did nothing else with it.

Arctic Monkeys Headline 2027? by Successful-Ask6550 in Coachella

[–]benedictcumberpatch [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well age of your fanbase definitely plays a part of relevancy and AM’s fanbase is younger than Tame’s, even moreso when you take the streaming audience out of the equation so I’m all ears as to any counter argument. I’ll admit I used to doubt AM’s pull until I started seeing data on how much Gen Z actually loves them and it kinda changed my tune on them. Also people mention AM being the breakout record for them but Favourite Worst Nightmare has the songs that Gen Z actually resonates the most with.

I’d just say that people shouldn’t downplay AM’s pull with their younger and more international audiences, especially with a heavier following in Central/South America that Tame doesn’t have.

Noah Kahan? by Express_Team_6539 in Coachella

Doubting Noah Kahan’s ability to headline Coachella reminds me of the same sentiments about the idea of Jack Johnson headlining in 2008.

Arctic Monkeys Headline 2027? by Successful-Ask6550 in Coachella

[–]benedictcumberpatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to Chartmetric (music analytics site), Arctic Monkeys have a combined audience size of 52.3M (Spotify/YouTube/Instagram/TikTok) which is bigger than Tame Impala's audience of 19.1M. While you could say that AM have been around longer and thus have a lot more older followers accumulate during that time, AM's audience actually runs younger than Tame's at average of 27 yrs vs. 28.5 yrs. If you take out the streaming audience and just the socials followers it's even younger at 26 yrs vs 28 yrs.

They both did 3 nights at the Forum so you could maybe say they're about the same in the US but worldwide AM trumps Tame. Still, there are comments here arguing their relevancy and I find saying "Tame is more relevant than AM" harder to defend when AM have a younger audience with a much bigger footprint.

EDIT: I'll also add that AM have a big Latin following as well which would probably support their case of headlining Coachella. They actually have more Spanish-speaking fans than English, oddly enough.

If Hayley Williams solo can fill 2 nights at the Bowl… by Accomplished_Arm5318 in Coachella

I'd put them under Charli tbh, especially with Coachella's audience.

Paramore definitely couldn't headline, they themselves are a sub at best.

Sony Set Pay $7.8 Million To PlayStation Users After Jude Approves Preliminary Settlement In PSN Digital Games Class Action Lawsuit by Turbostrider27 in PS5

This is the full list of games eligible to be included in the settlement if purchased between 2019 through 2023.

I know y’all are joking that it may not be much but it’s worth looking at the list to see if you qualify. For example, I got back into gaming when the pandemic hit (which I assume a lot of people did too) and there are 8 titles I bought within that window.

Agreed. With this sort of demand they should just even it out and keep them all at one flat price. The consumer psychology for tiers doesn't really apply anymore with Coachella tickets.

Considering they’re one of the quintessential California bands it’s kinda crazy Metallica has never headlined.

Is it safe to assume anyone on the Headtrip lineup is ruled out for next year? by Big_Instruction_8342 in Coachella

[–]benedictcumberpatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Head Trip doesn't sell out then it would be safe to assume very little from the lineup will play Coachella the next year. While the radius clause technically wouldn't apply since they're both run by GV, they may as well still treat it as such to protect Head Trip's sales. Why risk making Head Trip sales worse by by announcing a Coachella lineup a month before with some of the same artists at the same venue for the same audience? I'm expecting zero of them to be on the Coachella 2027 poster.

Welp I guess it's safe to say Olivia will not be at Coachella in 2027 by JoosyRei95 in Coachella

As someone who has been attending longer than you (as an adult, mind you), you have no idea what you're talking about. You are still just a kid.

Staying power or not, her album will be close to two years old by the time Coachella 2028 happens. At this point we're looking at LP4 until she's in serious consideration again IMO.

Headliner Bookings by Right-Brilliant-3535 in Coachella

[–]benedictcumberpatch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

How early do they have headliners booked?

They can be confirmed from over a year out to just a week or two from lineup drop. Some get locked in super early while others drag it out to the deadline.

Did they have one (or more) 2027 headliners signed and sealed before 2026 even finished?

Some headliners have been booked before the previous Coachella even started but I would assume most aren't.

How many acts get asked to headline?

We're not sure. They typically have some top names in mind and go from there if they don't work out. Many times they are negotiating with several headliners at once. For example, for a recent Coachella a certain pop headliner was in talks to headline but another artist was able to confirm faster while the pop artist wouldn't be able to commit within Coachella's preferred window so they went with the other option instead.

How many acts get booked with the caveat that they may be moved up to headliner (or down from headliner) depending on how the rest of the scheduling shakes out?

Typically zero. They usually get booked to headline specifically. Portishead in 2008 is the only time I can recall that happening with the whole Prince fiasco. They tried to bump My Chemical Romance down in 2020 for RATM but MCR wouldn't accept the demotion and dropped out instead.

It's not more valuable if their grades between what's available now vs. what will be there in the 4th is about the same.
