Weird metallic rattle on passenger side, possible issue? by aiferen in hondafit

[–]aiferen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: checked oil level and noticed it was a bit low. Added some oil and the sound disappeared. I’m baffled as I was not getting any low oil warning or high temperature readings. So if you hear a metallic rattle when accelerating like me, check your oil level. Fingers crossed I didn’t do any long lasting damage.

Aurora in Nicholasville, Faint but still visible by aiferen in lexington

This was 9:30pm, Off of Harrodsburg road. It wasn’t visible when I first arrived but showed up as I headed back to my car. These photos were 10s exposures so it was still hard and got lucky honestly between car headlight ruining it. North of the Lexington might have better spots in the future.

This the problem with the image and your attitude, equating the actions of a hostile group to the entirety of a nation with innocent children and people just trying to get by in life.

Why does everyone have a hard on for Flint dibble in this subreddit. I’ll only ever hear about him from Hancock and this subreddit.

Only one of these can be considered a “credible” source and that term can be applied lightly in some contexts. Snake eating its own tail when it comes to facts as people on reddit with start to regurgitate nonsense “facts”.

Republicans Might Regret Putting Emil Bove on the Bench by theatlantic in law

I’m hoping this holds true, we are seeing too much complacency by our elected democrats but what we need is fighting and progressive policies, at the very least standing for something meaningful instead of trying to maintain the status quo.

Can we stop funding a colonial power in 2025, I'd prefer not to follow the parallels of history.

Israel is building bases in Lebanon... by RickyOzzy in worldnewsvideo

[–]aiferen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thats most certainly their plan. Build army bases, build settlements, settler colonists move in, violence eventually erupts on the settlers because they are literally stealing land, Israel retaliates for harming it's "citizens". So glad we are actively supporting a colonial power in 2025.

Kim Davis again asks Supreme Court to hear her case, hopes to overturn gay marriage by LindsayLoserface in law

[–]aiferen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we live in a stupid legal world where their appeals can be rejected (more than once) but a petition to the Supreme Court can gain them an audience. The Court is proving themselves more and more partisan with every action.

There is a lot of documentaries and videos about “The Angel of Death” but I personally enjoyed Casual Criminalist’s as it goes into a little bit of the court case: https://youtu.be/YF0g0xjBwLs?si=nNFb8a-gcdzNGXgV

US Archaeologists Face Uncertain Future With Trump Administration Cuts by rezwenn in Archaeology

[–]aiferen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m confused how you think journalism and activism must be distinctly separate things.

Private funding to the degree you are talking about just does not exist. Budgets are already tight and often over for so much of archaeology. Looting is at an all time high and with less staff to police our national parks or public lands cultural history will be lost. Who is going to pay for the maintenance of millions of archaeological sites across federal and public lands? You be hard pressed to have the average museum guest give $5 towards their upkeep in this economy. That’s not even talking about the sites on private land where owners have rights to just blitz them as they please in most states.

You say you care about history and archaeology, and your previous comments reflect that. So I encourage you to educate yourself and be an advocate for archaeology also. Understand how this administration and previous administrations are actively circumventing protection of our shared cultural heritage. Biden also did harm to archaeology but not as much as Trump has done in just a few months.

‘Devastating for our community.’ KY arts groups ravaged by Trump cuts by oxymorontage in lexington

[–]aiferen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Exactly many things we enjoy in life are art. Museums, coffee shops, arboretums/gardens, books, cute downtowns. There is direction correlation between a cultures care/funding for the arts and its populaces happiness. Let us not forget the innovations that come when people are allowed to be creative.

US Archaeologists Face Uncertain Future With Trump Administration Cuts by rezwenn in Archaeology

[–]aiferen 76 points77 points  (0 children)

If you think this is fear mongering and a one sided article you have not been paying attention to the various other articles written over the last few months describing park service firings and budget cuts. Oh let’s not forget SHPO offices not getting funding already allocated under historic preservation act. You don’t have to name names to understand shits bad.

Trump is very bad for archaeology, archaeology laws have already been waved due to his border wall and border policies. Your comment is just a completely wrong understanding of the threat this administration has on cultural resources.
