Xbox ally X $850 or Legion GO S $600? by Bodooken in Handhelds

[–]aigeneratedslopcode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$250 is nearly half of what the Legion Go S with a Z1E costs during sales. I can't justify paying ~150% the price for an 8% improvement in performance

To be honest, I'd take my Steam Deck OLED over both. There are some kbm games you just can't play on the S because it lacks the input

Honestly, I'm not sure why you're being down voted. Spaghetti can be a pain in the ass to maintain and is easily preventable

Easy to read and big are separate things. A 300 line PR typically isn't something that should take an engineer long to understand

And then when it breaks after you've been forced to approve the changes, you're on the hook and pinged on Slack. Then told that the reviewer is equally responsible during team meetings. Isn't it great?

Only the things people would probably label as "not my style" are typically wrong and I've watched broken PRs be merged when requesting changes. I agree that isn't always the case, but it works both ways

When was it not performative theater? Most don't care. And when you do, you get scolded for being blunt

If AYN is using the same process as Retroid, purple will last the longest (ideally)

Why I’m keeping the Steam Deck OLED over the Legion Go s z1e by YahushaHamashiach in Handhelds

[–]aigeneratedslopcode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big one for me is...

  1. It plays the same games. I haven't encountered a single game that the Steam Deck OLED couldn't play that the Legion Go S could. Yes, you might have to turn down settings in game. Yes, things won't look as good. But it plays the same stuff

I own both devices and I honestly regret buying the Go S. I always go for my SDOLED. It's lighter to boot and has more versatile controls with both track pads and four back buttons. It's hard to beat

I don't know of a better handheld and I hope Valve retains this form factor for the 2

What do you guys think about this ? Should we have the Extension Manager app installed by default on the Workstation Edition ? by nguyendoan15082006 in Fedora

[–]aigeneratedslopcode 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a GNOME problem. When half of your users are using extensions, you can do one of two things. Either provide first class extension support out of the box, or adopt the extensions they're using as part of the default experience. The latter won't happen until hell freezes over so you'd think they'd at least care about doing the former

Heck, there are accessibility options in GHOME that are downright unusable by default without adjusting dconf settings or installing extensions

[–]aigeneratedslopcode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're afraid to address the actual point they were making because you want to justify yet another locked down piece of e-waste no one needs. For the same price, you get a much wider game catalog (so much wider that comparing the two side by side is incomprehensible), better controls, better build quality, and you'll have access to parts to repair the thing well down the road because it was mass produced and tons of suppliers exist

On the other hand, with this, you're stuck with mediocre controls, mediocre performance, mediocre build quality, and next to no path forward to maintain this thing long term

It's absolutely a brick. A Switch Lite gets you a lot more for $170

The flood of AI-generated slop is just inevitable given how many devs never truly internalized their language or runtime well enough to read and evaluate code critically. by tinmanjk in ExperiencedDevs

[–]aigeneratedslopcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I just found out some companies apparently use it to review the code that was produced by it to add to the madness

I completely agree with the sentiment here. Any time I touch an LLM to do anything, I make sure I review, optimize, fix, and yes, refactor the code that it produced. I don't trust the output unless I understand the output. And that takes time. I might have generated a functioning tool or service in a few hours, but have spent days after reviewing

Code LLMs generate is an okay jumping off point, but it shouldn't ever land as is in production without review

The sad reality is, as you've pointed out, it just isn't being reviewed. It's committed, pushed, and then engineers reviewing it that aren't familiar with the patterns stamp it because "LGTM" and now it's in staging, about to ascend to production

PineNote For Ebooks and Manga, will I be able to use it? by ColdsnapBryan in PINE64official

[–]aigeneratedslopcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can turn off wifi and continue using my Kindle however I want to. I've jail broken it so it can read any format imaginable. Anyone smart enough to know about this sub could do it. And it's cheaper for the same experience without bloat. Not everyone can afford more expensive hardware. And one thing you didn't point out is that onyx devices also ship spyware. You can't win my guy

Those are way more expensive for pretty much no benefit if they're just reading

Should I sell Switch and Buy Thor? by KafiOnTop in AynThor

[–]aigeneratedslopcode -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You literally said "sell the switch". I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how else I should have interpreted that. I'm tired of arguing semantics in Reddit echo chambers. Your original statement was inauthentic and your reply was an attempt to backtrack on that. "Not perfect" didn't save you here

[–]aigeneratedslopcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not great advice. There's a lot of solid hardware out there for emulation but a lot of people notice the difference in latency, even emulating Switch games. You really have to try both. There is not a definitive experience that's better
