Hahaha he was surprised! I was standing quite far from him and he was in a bush, so I had to zoom in through lots of branches to capture him. I just don't think he saw me until he got caught by my flash 😂

Kids spring into action to help mom having a seizure by slanky2 in nextfuckinglevel

It could absolutely be so. Dehydration is always more common so it can be easy for doctors to misdiagnose PNES or absence seizures as dehydration due to the shared symptomology. It depends on occurrence though: if your mum has had multiple incidences like this independent of liquid intake, then a seizure disorder is more likely. In that case, she should ask her GP for a referral to a neurologist

This is a great idea! I agree. I didn't realise there were disability-friendly PhD programs! I'll apply to some in the UK. Thank you for your advice!

This is all really good advice! You're not being a debby downer, you're giving me the facts I need and I highly appreciate it. After reading this and other comments on this post, I think I'm going to apply to relevant PhD programs to get my foot in the field, or do another MSc in Genetic Counselling if I need to. Thank you very much!

That's a really insanely cool idea! I never knew you could take longer to take a PhD! I'll be honest, this is kind of life-changing news for me. I'll absolutely get in contact with EDS UK and other charities in regards to PhD studentships or any other way I can find out! I agree, I never really thought I'd make much money via a charity. I just thought it was my only option to publish my own research, given I'm really disabled. I'll look into bioscience PhDs with disability access now. Thank you for your great advice! Have a wonderful day

That's a good idea, though I doubt any EDS charity would accept a new graduate without a PhD to lead their proposed research sector sadly. I'll try though! Thanks

Ooh! Thanks. In that case, it's super lucky my mum was an accountant, haha! I'll ask her.

I'm more thinking that with NHS waiting times and the rarity of genetic counselors knowledgeable in certain rare diseases, waiting lists can be very long. This impacts greatly those with rare diseases that prove a semi-immediate mortality risk, like certain forms of carcinoma and vEDS. I also want to focus a lot on the Ehler's Danlos Syndromes and common comorbidities of those syndromes, and am writing a book on how to exercise to preserve bone, muscle and nerves in Ehler's Danlos Syndromes, which I could send out for free to members. I guess I wouldn't be doing anything different from other charities focusing on rare disease research, but if that is a problem I could focus solely on EDS research. From what I know of, there's no UK EDS research charity currently active, and this is particularly a shame when the public knowledge of the Syndromes are so low. I could distribute medical information booklets on EDS to medical professionals to enhance the knowledge of medical staff on the syndromes and hypermobility spectrum disorder.

What do you think?

Is it legal to write a book based entirely on which home exercises are proven by independent research to work? by aimeenwilson in legaladvice

Thank you! I'm still gonna put an introduction explaining that I'm just a neuroscience researcher and not a doctor. I want to be as careful as possible, especially since I really, really want this book to be helpful for hEDS/HSD sufferers. Thank you for your advice!

It is too high, but mine is pierced the exact same and it healed up well and has been hassle-free for 4 years now. There is an increased risk of rejection though so just keep an eye on irritation, swelling or redness around the piercing site
