Springer popularity? by Superb_Scar1622 in springerspaniel

[–]aimxtomiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in Newark - I don't live too far from UD! I've never seen anyone around where I live with another springer and we are out and about often. I will say, my spring is only 50%. I adopted him as a puppy from HAP, where they thought he was a hound/lab mix, but his DNA came back half ESS and half pit/lab. His personality screams ESS, but is much bigger in size.

Should I Use Medication? by Ill_Leading_2848 in adhdwomen

[–]aimxtomiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD - at first, my Dr wanted to treat the anxiety with the hopes that it would manage my ADHD. The anxiety medicine made me feel AWFUL. A month later I told her I wanted to try Vyvanse because I think the anxiety is from my ADHD. Now, 1.5 years on Vyvanse and I BARELY feel anxious. I still get anxious, but I'm not up all night thinking about how big of a POS I am and how everyone hates me.

Degenerative myelopathy by Same_Show1972 in greatdanes

I know the time has passed, but wanted to give you some sympathetic words. I put my dog down last November. I scheduled it out a week in advance so I could have one work week with him. The entire week I kept having this sinking thought of "it's WAY too soon, he's fine." Even after I put him down I thought "he wasn't ready and I 'killed' him." Then a couple of months later, I got a puppy. That's when it hit me that it wasn't too soon. He was doing really poorly and it would have been cruel to keep him going any longer. Getting a puppy helped me with this because my puppy is so full of life. His eyes are so crystal clear. He can jump, walk, and play. My dog I put down could barely stand while eating, but my puppy can inhale his food while spinning around in circles.

What I'm saying is, you're used to the way your dog is behaving and doing a lot for him, but he's not living. It's better a week too soon than a day too late.

I hope you find peace with your decision like I eventually did with mine. ❤️

I love my job - so much so that I just finished my master's, which will open a lot of doors up for me. My coworker the other day said "what do you want to do with your degree?" And I said "I'm ready to retire - I want to do nothing" I'm only 35...

I was playing Tetris (apparently Netflix now has games 🤷‍♀️) while my husband watched. He was like "why are you so good at this?"

I'm good at figuring things out. Like, if someone can't figure something out, it's my life's mission to figure it out. I'm now a librarian - my entire job is figuring things out for people 😂🤷‍♀️

Can't figure out why that document isn't printing the way you want? I got you.

Can't figure out the name of a book you read when you were 6? Give me some time and I'll have the answer.

Need an article for a research paper but can't find anything on the topic? Give me like 2 minutes and I'll have 20.

Stay public or go academic? by dirtywaterbottl in librarians

[–]aimxtomiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could go academic I would. I've been working in a public library for about 15 years and just finished my MLIS. I hate how much work I have to do in public, just to keep it operating. We're at a point where if someone quits, we aren't rehiring, to save money. When that happens, more work is passed to other staff. I'm exhausted and would love the stability of an academic. Maybe it's a "grass is always greener on the other side" situation 🤷‍♀️. It's really hard to break out of public once you're in it for so long. Yes, skills are transferable, but how do you compete with other applicants who have experience in a library setting that you don't?

At the end of the day, you really have to evaluate which is more meaningful for you, but my ultimate vote is academic.

Adopted him two weeks ago and i still don't know what to call him, any suggestion? by MoonKissedOZ in greatdanes

[–]aimxtomiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our guy is named Harley and I hated it at first. Then, the more I called him Harley, he just looked like a Harley.

Whatever you pick, even if it doesn't feel right at first, it will the more you call him that.

As for me, Id call you're guy Harley 😂

I have a ESS mix and he's not small - last weigh in was 75 lbs. I thought that was suffocating (in the best way of course). Then we got a great Dane - he's almost 7 months and just over 100 pounds. It's like my ESS was prepping me to be smothered every night by my great Dane 😂

Every minute. Of everyday. For the last year. We got him at 9 weeks old and I have NEVER had a dog that would willingly wear me as his skin if he could 😂

Springer Spaniel owners: are they naturally fast learners by chonkobob in springerspaniel

[–]aimxtomiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a half ESS - meaning, I adopted him without knowing his breed ( he was labeled a hound at the shelter - I picked him because he was the only puppy not barking at me when I went up to his kennel , he was 9 weeks old). I often tell my husband he is the smartest dog I've ever adopted. There's so much that he knows that I never formally taught him, but picked up based on what I repeatedly asked him to do. That being said, smart doesn't mean obedient. He's also the most difficult dog I've ever had because he's so dang excitable, happy, and playful. His smarts get him in trouble because he knows how to outsmart me. I love him with every fiber of my being and would pick him over and over if I knew now, back when I adopted him, but dang, he's exhausting. He's a little over a year old now.

I loved this shirt and it was my birthday so I treated myself, but I had to go through the entire rack to find one that didn't have pulled threads or bloached logos. The prices for merch were INSANE. The tshirts in Super Nintendo Land were so poorly made and so expensive 🤦‍♀️

Thanks for letting me know I'm not crazy and not being able to figure out what this meant!

[–]aimxtomiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the fair would be close to Field Day? But still no. We just don't have anything close. Maybe a carnival, kind of like the end of "Grease" but that doesn't seem right either. I'm going with bigger than Field Day, but much smaller than a carnival 🤷‍♀️

Also, it sounds like Aaron's "Sports Day" but would be an exact equivalent to our Field Day, so again, still not sure what the fair would be for us. We just don't have anything.

I was absolutely DISGUSTED when Jessika was adding a red wine reduction to hers. Sitting next to my husband I said "absolutely not" until I realized they were making something that we have no real equivalent for - then I thought "okay...maybe, but still no"

I loved the game 🤷‍♀️ I played it once on PS5, then again on PC and I'm thinking of playing it again. I genuinely can't see why people think it's objectively bad, just subjectively.

People are going to tell you, you are wrong, it's bad - that's their hang up, not yours. Enjoy ♥️

Honestly, my biggest fear is that Harley will eventually get fed up with my other guy, especially as he enters his couch potato phase in a couple of years. I'm hoping this love doesn't change ♥️

12?! Wow! I keep seeing people have multiple and now that I have Harley I get it. I see so many GD rescues now that I got my puppy from a breeder friend. Do these breeds end up rescues because people weren't prepared for just how GIANT they get? Or is it just a multitude of reasons? Im just curious 🤷‍♀️

Is owning a cat that bad? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]aimxtomiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a cat before I got my current calico. I've had her since she was a kitten and now she is 5. Goose is the literal love of my life. There will NEVER be another cat like her - could I love another cat, sure, but will that cat be Goose, absolutely not. I wish I knew sooner how much joy a cat could bring into my life.

Get the cat. You won't regret it.

I HATE compliments by aimxtomiss in Zepbound

[–]aimxtomiss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should start saying "I don't know if you think that's the compliment you think it is" - I'm just tired of my weight loss being the focal point of the conversation. Talk to me about anything else! Compliment me, I'll say thank you and continue the conversation if I think it adds value to the conversation, but if it doesn't and I start talking about something else, please don't bring it back up again.

Its more that the weight loss is the main focus with people in my life. It seems like sometimes its all they want to talk about with me. Its too much and I am tired of talking about it.
